In the centre of Siracusa, just 2 minutes walk to the island of Ortigia, this is a small boutique hotel owned and run by Maria and Gianluca and Gianluca's parents. Gianluca is an architect and he designed and converted this wonderfully elegant hotel from a run down and derelict building. You can be sure of a warm welcome here, nothing... More

The Cavalieri has large and comfortable rooms and the owners are most attentive and welcoming. The breakfast is excellent. The location is convenient for Ortygia (less than five minutes walk) and the train station. There is some traffic noise in rooms facing the road but the efficient air-conditioning means that the windows can be kept closed which mutes the noise.... More

This hotel was clean and very basic with good breakfast however there were some minor annoyances. The staff was generally very friendly. Prices were a little to high considering the location of the hotel and the facilities but then again if dont mind where you are staying and want to just travel around the place it is still a good... I never book a hotel without thoroughly researching it on Trip Advisor and after the rave reviews and number 1 rating I thought I was on to a sure fire hit. We even splashed out and went for the junior suite. Rather disappointingly however, the room and the hotel didn't quite meet our expectations. Whilst the hotel itself is very... More

The Hotel Cavalieri is a real find. It's a new, very well designed modern hotel in an antique building - gorgeous. Great attention to detail is paid in all respects from comfort and cleanliness through to a wide variety of choices from the extravagant breakfast buffet. Moreover, the design is practical as well as spectacular. We had a spacious room... More

Hotel Cavalieri in Siracusa has it all - an excellent location (right across the bridge from Ortygia), beautiful decor and appointments, large rooms, and a friendly staff. I highly recommend this hotel.

We just spent 3 wonderful days in Siracusa and really enjoyed our stay in this boutique hotel. The hotel is really beautiful. Nice design, modern and comfortable at the same time. Our guests made us feel at home, they took care of every little detail and made our stay really unforgettable. Our room was beautiful, the bed very very comfortable,... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel Cavalieri, at the edge of the ancient city center, is a case in point; this old aristocratic residence belongs to a family of architects and designers, who've turned its 19th-century halls and rooms into a charmingly eclectic, thoroughly contemporary boutique hotel. The location, on Via Malta, is just to the mainland side of the bridge to Ortygia, which is the original ancient Greek settlement. This means easy access by day and a measure of peace by night. As does the hotel itself - these old walls shut out the noise, sealing guests in to a fantasy of noble life. It's not a period piece, though; along with the well-preserved original architecture you'll find all manner of contemporary touches, rooms featuring brand-new bath fixtures, beds and electronics and furnished with mid-century design classics. With few rooms it's perhaps a bit bigger than it feels - from within the rooms you'd be hard pressed not to imagine you're the old house's sole resident. ... more   less
