The hotel is centrally located, close to the city centre and very close to the train station. The staff were very friendly. The room was clean. Wifi reception in the room was good. I would go here again.

We stayed overnight on transit before catching an early train in the morning. The location was perfect as it's 10-minute walk to Santa Maria Novella train station. The room was comfortable and it has the basic facilities. We had the shared bathroom/toilet which was inconveniently located next to the reception. Unfortunately when we arrived the guy at the reception wasn't too friendly.

Do not stay here, Rude staff, When we returned the second day, we found our toiletries knocked over and in the biday, they took all of the towels but did not replace with new towels. We called the desk for new towels but no one ever picked up the phone. We walked outside and hit the buzzer but no one ever answered. They did not warn us that it was cash payment, no credit cards accepted. We were instructed never to flush toilet paper in the toilet so all of our used toilet paper was in the waste basket. Room #7 - The shower door leaked and water ran onto the floor. When we asked about the lift, the receptionist said "No speak english" when his english appeared perfectly fine before. There is no lift and you must carry luggage up 2 flights of stairs.

A clean, convenient budget hotel close to the train station. Stayed two nights. It is extremely basic, but met our needs. No flash, weak internet, but close to some good restaurants and easy walking to all the sights in the old city. Only saw the man at the reception upon check-in, then saw no one else the entire stay - but we spent very little time in the hotel. The cleanliness and convenience was worth the price we paid.

Location is the only good thing about this place. Poor service, overpriced, wifi signal weak and very noisy. Our room was next to reception and the street so constant noise from both sides. Florence has better places to offer for same prices....

Despite being a 1* we could not fault this hotel. It is very clean, tidy and in a great location. A less than 5 minute walk from the train station and 15 minutes from main attractions it is a great choice if you are on a budget. We fell in love with Florence and would definitely come back and we would stay here again.

I stayed at the Hotel Margaret for a week back in May of 2010 with some friends. We had a room with 3 beds and a private bath. This hotel is run by a friendly family who always greet you as you come and go. The young man who works the front desk, Graziano speaks English and is very nice. The hotel is near the train station so it's a great base to travel further around Italy. It's also close to the duomo and a lot of restaurants. I would stay at Hotel Margaret again if I ever return to Florence.

Looking at the reviews can't believe we stayed in same place as those that give this hotel a good rating. Yes, it is close to the station and the sights but that is all. We were put in a front noisy room facing the street. The room was clean but the bedding and furniture are old like the owners. We had to ask for the air condition remote and as said by others the Wi fi is very weak. The owners were friendly but communication was difficult as we can't speak Italian and their English is limited.

great location, great city. the location is good, you can walk from train station and to city, to Duomo, to bridge. This is the only one floor hotel, however, it is better than my thought. good and clean room, large and clean baht room. It is only one star hotel, but it is good. good service, because I ask for hot drink water, they give us a kettle :) , just poor wifi.

If you're looking for reasonably priced accommodation close to the Florence train station, Hotel Margaret is a good choice. Not only is it just a 5 minute walk from the station, it's also right by the large Piazza Santa Maria Nouvella, which we found much nicer than similar hotels on busier streets in the neighborhood. The room was spotless. It doesn't include breakfast, but the Mercato Centrale is a 10 minute walk away, and we had a wonderful frittata there for 3 euros.
