We had a really fun stay in Florence and Donatello was great to chat to and very helpful with everything, from helping with luggage to organic breakfasts. The place is spotless and we were fortunate to have the whole apartment to ourselves for the 2 nights that we spent in Florence. All the other positive comments about proximity to the...

It is our 'virgin' trip to Europe and Florence, the beautiful city of the arts is eventually one on the list. And to add on, we came across this B&B in tripadvisor. It was located in a very GOOD location. Just 5 minutes walk from Firenze train station! And for those who are pretty worried about coming back late nights...

We were referred by our friend who stayed there before. As you know, it's very hard to find a decent and clean hotel in Europe. You need to pay a lot of money to stay in a very nice place. I really have to recommend this place. Amazing hidden gem in Florence. no.1 it is clean. We stayed in their...

From Donatello’s excellent communications in planning our visit to his assistance in arranging transportation to the Airport, we felt welcome. Centrally located in the heart of Florence, with easy access to all major attractions as well as the train station, The Black Sheep B&B is the perfect place to stay when visiting Florence.

A wonderful base to explore Florence. We stayed for 3 nights in spotless and very comfortable accomodation. Located just a 5 min walk from the train staion and an easy walk to the sights, museums and galleries. We had heavy cases and although we hadnt realised the apartment was on the 3rd floor, Donatello greeted us and insisted on carrying...

Black Sheep B&B was one of the top highlights of my recent trip! First of all, the location canNOT be beat--an easy 5 minute stroll from the train station, then 5-10 minutes from downtown, close to restaurants, piazzas, a post office, and a small grocery store. Everything you need is close and convenient! Our room was great--we had 2 single...

I found the Black Sheep on the internet and booked a room with them. It was located at an excellent area just minutes walk (literally minutes because you can probably see it from the Florence train station!) from the train station after I arrived with my wife. We lugged our stuffs over and were greeted with a very interesting room....

We were a group of three travelers and we stayed in the red room. Like others have commented, the pictures look exactly like the B&B, very modern and very clean! We enjoyed Donatello so much, he was super friendly and just a cool guy. He made a wonderful breakfast with fresh pastries/jam/yogurt/fruit and excellent coffee. The room has a double...

My wife and I stayed here in May 2011 and loved it!! Definitely one of the coolest places we stayed on our trip to Italy/Greece. Donatello is a super cool dude! Extremely dedicated and helpful in making your stay in Florence the best it can be. Would stay here again and recommend this place to anyone. Thanks again for everything,...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
