My wife and I stayed at the Grand Hotel during our short visit to Florence. We only wished we would have booked more nights in Florence because of this property and the city. The hotel is indeed Grand. Great lobby and public areas. The bar is quaint and relaxing with a beautiful restaurant. The breakfasts were outstanding. A great selection...

Visited during a congress. It is situated in an area near the main attractions of Florence. Staff were very polite and helpful .Breakfast was excellent in my view many fresh fruits good variety of sweets. The room we stayed was not too spacious and the window facing the back yard would not open which was a minus. The garden and...

If you want to be away from the serious bustle of old town Florence, this is the location. But it is two bridges down from the Ponte Vecchio. We found it too far to walk to Duomo, Uffizi etc. Very nice, upscale hotel with excellent dining and a pool. Downside was the wi-fi didnt work and was not free! What!!!...

A charming hotel with superb service. Staff goes out of the way to serve you. Great location with easy walking distance to many attractions. It was my 2nd stay here. Concierage was superb. He delivered me my medical device by driving himself 2 hrs to my next hotel. Very clean with a wonderful breakfast. Outdoor dining was beautiful next to...

We stayed for 8 nights, and for such high nightly rates, there was no air conditioning first week of October, the weather was at 80 degrees F, we told the front desk we cannot sleep, the guy said open a window, no need to switch the AC on, we have no complaints, so we opened a window, we could not...

Grand Villa Medici is beautiful. I believe it used to be a personal residence. It is an easy walk to the centre of Florence where the historical sights are. It is not right in the middle of the historical centre. It was walking distance from the train station. The room was large with a balcony overlooking the pool which was...

Room was spacious, bed was comfy, bathroom was huge! But a/c could not be turned on. It was cool enough to open windows but our room faced the street side and we were across from a very loud bar. We were sold an internet card and told we could use it on two devices, just not simultaneously, but we couldnt....

Stayed here for 3 nights in early October as part of a Perillo tour. The hotel itself is nice, the rooms are large, the bathroom nice, etc, However, felt the staff was unfriendly, and the desk clerk on duty for the 3 nights we were there was downright arrogant, They still use old fashioned keys on this big bulky keyring...

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel. Large clean room with AC and clean bath. Lovely pool area to sit and enjoy drinks before dinner out. The staff was friendly and helpful with every request. Location offered many places to choose from for lunch or dinner within a short walking distance. Breakfast buffet offered many selections and the fruit was...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
