Grand Hotel Cavour is set in a historic building dating back to 1300. It has a majestic hall with colonnades and stucco. On the same floor are our Restaurant American bar where you can admire the frescoes by Galileo Chini. Our rooms, recently renovated, have hardwood floors and are equipped with a tea kettle, minibar, LCD TV, free WiFi, safe and hairdryer. Our suites, perfect for a romantic stay, can also easily accommodate a family of four. On the sixth floor, from our Divina Terrazza you will enjoy cocktails and treat yourself to the most beautiful city views (its opening time and availability are subject to change). We also have a small fitness center with turkish bath. Our location between Dome and Piazza della Signoria is unbeatable: we are right in the middle of the most famous city monuments. Just outside our door you will find dozens of dining options and the best Florence boutiques. Florence main station and the Congress and Fair Citadelle can be reached on foot in 15 min.

This hotel has an ideal location about a five minute walk from the main square. The hotel itself and the "Deluxe" room we had were nothing special (reason I am giving a rating of 4 rather than 5). A bit spartan and outdated with a strange mural painted on the wall of the room. The rooftop bar provided a wonderful place to relax at the end of the day with a nice view of the city. We found it was necessary to make reservatins for "happy hour" as it is popular and quickly gets crowded. The drinks were good and nice snackks were served with our cocktails. We had the buffet breakfast one morning and found it adequate but nothing special. The front desk staff and concierge could not have been more helpful and friendly. A special shout out to Angela who answered many of our questions, provided directions and helped us secure entry tickets to museums. She was awesome! Covid precautions were maintained at all times and we found this reassuring.

Before traveling to Italy, I did extensive research trying to find just the right hotels for my family. I was traveling with my elderly parents, so location was very important. Furthermore, we needed to ensure walk-in shower for my parents. The rooms were beautiful, and the bathrooms fit our needs. I will say, I was disappointed that after reaching out to the hotel to ensure we would have walk in shower for my elderly parents, the rooms we had required steps to get to the rooms. While it was only a few steps, every time we came or left the room, we had to deal with the steps. Not a big deal for us but for my parents (one with a walker) it was a bit difficult. The location of the hotel was quite perfect. We were situated a couple of blocks from the Duomo, Piazza della Rupubblica and the Ponte Vecchio and all directions! Upon arrival to the hotel, there was a designated parking spot out front to allow us to unload our car. The lobby was elegant and welcoming. The desk staff was very helpful with our bags and the entire check in process. Good size lifts and the suites we booked were quite lovely. We had a sitting a room with a pull-out queen size bed, good size bedroom and both rooms beautiful large opening windows. The bathrooms were large and well stocked. Because we had family sleeping on the pull-out couches, Room 539 was preferable as you could enter the bathroom from the hallway vs. Room 535 where we had to walk thru the bedroom to access the bathroom. The typical breakfast buffet was redesigned to accommodate safety due to the pandemic. The dining room was equally as beautiful as the rest of the hotel. Without a double the most amazing part of the hotel was the rooftop Terraza with views of Florence in every direction. We literally felt like we could reach out and touch the Basilica in one direction and the tower of the Palazzo Vecchio in the Piazza della Signoria and off in a little distance the Basilica of Santa Maria. We ended up having a nightcap each evening on the Terraza. Based on the Terraza alone, not to mention the beautiful rooms and amazing location, we will be choosing the Grand Hotel Cavour the next time we visit Florence!

We just recently got back from Florence and stayed at the Grand Hotel Cavour. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the hotel and their staff. They were accommodating as soon as we got out of our taxi and everytime we needed help or guidance on the best place to eat or where the closest market was, they were always there, happy to help us. I requested a different room due to the size of the shower and how I needed a bigger one due to a back disability and they helped us immediately. The location was magnificent, as well. Right in the middle of everything and just so you know, there is a gelato place a block away. For us, it was a marvelous stay at a magnificent hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay at a four star hotel with extremely accommodating staff. Thank you for the wonderful stay and we will be back the next time we visit Florence. Grazie!

The Cavour oozes old world charm. Located close to everything, including a great little cafe to get a cappuccino early in the morning. We enjoyed our stay immensely. The rooftop bar is a must (great view). Within minutes of the Duomo in one direction and the Ponte Vecchio in the other. The service of the staff was 100%. We had a small issue with the plumbing and the hotel had it fixed within 10 minutes. They were all quick to assist. The room has a kettle and a small fridge. It was clean and the bed comfy. No hesitation in recommending it at all.

Having stayed here for a couple of nights after a mini your of Italy I was looking forward to this hotel. As others have said, the location is fantastic and a great base to explore the city from. The staff were very friendly at reception. The communal areas are impeccably decorated in a modern style. On our first night we had a few cocktails on the rooftop bar and the guys were great. Both were very friendly and made some exceptional cocktails, with great views, definitely worth a visit. We also ate in the restaurant, which was surprisingly good. Breakfast was disappointing by comparison; the usual breads were available, but the buffet "hot" options were pretty cold along with the hot drinks. The room itself was a little small compared to rooms we'd had elsewhere and the reason to mark the hotel down. Noise was also an issue. Both from outside at night, being central you would occasionally get groups walking past that has been out for the evening (not the hotel's fault). However, the hotel's plumbing is frustrating as the vents for the A/C mean you can hear every flush from rooms above. The A/C seemed to turn itself off, so we ended up being hot. A lot of the furniture is pretty bashed up and worn, which makes me think the money has gone on the reception. Also a standard thing seems to be pushing single beds together and claiming it is a king bed. Finally and least importantly was the TV reception is awful, only being able to get a few channels which would then drop off.
