I was a bit disappointed when i walked in the room. First of all, i requested a higher level that i was given a room on the 2nd floor. The staff was so kind to let me change if there was availability. I was subsequently changed to a room on the 4th floor the next day, however, the hot water...

The city is stunning, highly recommended. A very romantic place This hotel is a little strange. It's in a great location, just by a little square we some quite nice pizzerias (there are more plush restaurants in the main centre square a little further up). All the main attractions are walkable from this hotel. I booked it because it had...

Well-located for Florence sightseeing tour. Had a room with beautiful view over Florence rooftops. Street itself rather touristic, between main station and Santa Maria Novella. Nice breakfast - thank you!

Located conveniently for SMN station about 10 mins walk from Duomo in central Florence. We had room at rear. Bathroom small - but it had everything so perhaps size did not matter. Wifi slow. It was noisy one night out of 3 - with noise coming from adjacent premises. Sitting area outside at rear by small pool. Breakfast good.

Attractive, very comfortable. Staff were friendly, especially the bartender in the relaxing hotel bar. We ate only breakfasts there because restaurants and shops were within walking distance. This was a surprise upgrade on our Trafalgar tour.

The staff we're wonderful! The rooms were very basic, but clean. Old key card system which did not lock our door until I called the desk for assistance. Shower was very small, lots of water overflowing. Cold room with noisy a/c. Very small television. Noisy as we were on the road facing side. We will definitely not choose this for a...

This hotel is a little gem - friendly staff who think ahead & make your visit run smoothly. Gorgeous former convent - my first trip to Florence & yes, I had a room with a view. Easy walking distance from all the major sights & short walk from the railway station where the airport bus drops off. If I had...

This is a very well located hotel. Very traditional in the positive sense and with very interesting features like the swimming pool and the top floor bar with great views. Rooms are decent but not great and breakfast is fairly poor. It is quite expensive for what it is but due to location and traditions I would give it a...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
