I arrived at this hotel after a terrible experience at Minerva Hotel and I was very welcomed there. Without a reservation they offered me a triple room, very traditional, Florence style. They have a beautiful terrace and I imagine it might be nice during summer time. I have been there February 2016, during the chocolate fair. I did not like...

Be sure to get on that rooftop terrace! Best views of Florence are there, What an amazing time! It is also a great value for money and how easy it is to walk to the train station and to downtown makes it really the ideal place to stay. Far enough from the center not to feel suffocated by tourists but...

Front desk staff were helpful and kind. Rooftop view was very nice and got some great photos. Would be very nice when the bar is open in summer. However, rooms are extraordinarily dated and stuffy. not many amenities available in the room (ie. could not iron clothes), bathrooms extremely small, few towels. Design not great.

Having selected this hotel for its proximity to the Railway Station, we were pleasantly surprised with the quality and service that the hotel offered. It is in a great location (the Uffizi Galleries were only 15 mnutes away on foot), and the view across the Piazza was really good. The breakfast buffet was as you would expect, but the highlight...

This is a good 3 - 4 Star Hotel in a great location just off the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Less that 10 mins walk to the train station. 10 minutes walk to the Florence Cathedral. 15 minutes walk to Michelangelo's David. 20 minutes walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The room rates were reasonable for Winter in Italy. The rooms...

This hotel whilst only for one night was somewhat of a disappointment. The lobby and bar area are somewhat modern and new however the rooms are straight out of the 60s check out the pictures and in sure you must agree ! The bathroom window had a paper thin curtain that if you turned the light on became completely transparent...

Dear Sir The decription and the pictures you posted don't match with our property, probably they refer to another Croce di Malta in a different town. For the above reason we warmly invite you to remove your review and to address it to the right hotel. Thank you and kind regards.

Only a 5 minute walk from the Railway Station. Immediately opposite [on the right] were 3 mini-marts for any extra things you may need - from wine to toiletries. Opposite - about 20 steps to the left - a Laundromat! Every attraction of Florence easily walkable from here. The staff are really helpful and friendly and breakfast was excellent -...

I was a bit disappointed when i walked in the room. First of all, i requested a higher level that i was given a room on the 2nd floor. The staff was so kind to let me change if there was availability. I was subsequently changed to a room on the 4th floor the next day, however, the hot water...

The city is stunning, highly recommended. A very romantic place This hotel is a little strange. It's in a great location, just by a little square we some quite nice pizzerias (there are more plush restaurants in the main centre square a little further up). All the main attractions are walkable from this hotel. I booked it because it had...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
