We have just returned from a 4 night stay at HB, celebrating our "45th" wedding anniversary. The total experience was exceptional. From the booking process with Mario, the Front Desk Manager, right through to us leaving at the end of our wonderful 4 night stay. We booked a deluxe room with a view of the Duomo on the 4th floor,...

My lovely wife and I had a great stay here. What can I say? Wonderful location, just 2 streets away from Duomo and right in the heart of the old city. Great hotel, great restaurant, great "Deluxe" room. Fantastic staff all around. Stayed for 4 nights, had an evening meal in hotel restaurant on first (Arrived late), and last evening...

The hotel has a great location close to Il Duomo. To get to the hotel from Florence airport, you take the airport bus to the main station and it is then a maybe 20 minute relaxed walk to the hotel. Not at all difficult. We always like to book hotels in the middle of cities we are visiting - and...

I honestly booked this hotel just by the looks and the architect, not knowing that it is one of the oldest structures in Florence as it was a women's prison. We treated ourselves to the Pagliazza Suite which was beyond amazing. The hotel staff and management where so accommodating to us especially when the AC broke. They switched us for...

A lovey hotel with a historical feel but modern conveniences. We had an unusual room that had a sunken bedroom. There were 3 stairs to climb each time you go to the bathroom/closet or out the door. In talking to other hotel guests, the hotel has many different style rooms, depending where they are in the hotel. So, I recommend...

We didn't know before booking that the building was actually formerly a women's prison. So we were really intrigued by the history of this hotel when the front office manager told us about it. He jokes, "women couldn't wait to get out before and now they don't want to get out!" There is a good spread for breakfast, the room...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
