The hotel looks onto a very nice piazza with Santa Maria Novella as the perfect setting. The neighbourhood is clean and nice and the room decoration is quite modern with a good taste. The hotel staff are very friendly and they also offer free drinks at the lobby. You cannot forget the key because it is a huge piece of...

This hotel is ok. The front desk was excellent but the other employees like housekeeping and waiter were so so. Location of the hotel is very close to the termini. Its close to ponte vecchio (10 mins?) and mercato centrale (12 mins?) but most of florence is close from the center to begin with. Room size is generous. Free water...

Because it is situated in Piazza di Santa Maria di Novella, you can benefit of the proximity of the principal train station-if you want to go in another city-but also, you can go by walking in all hystorical places and museums of Florence. The staff was very kind and efficient in solving different demands. The bed was confortable and the...

I cannot really say anything about the hotel. Booked in November 2016. Arrived from airport to be told I had no room and that alternative plans had been made at another hotel. Needless to say the alternate accommodation was well below the level expected. No attempt was made at any time to contact me between November 2016 and March 2017....

This is the first time we stayed at the Hotel Roma and from checking in, where we were warmly welcomed, we found everything to our total satisfaction. Luigi and his staff in the breakfasting room provided an excellent and efficient service and when we made enquiries at the front desk, they were answered with very clear directions and politeness. The...

Hotel location was great and the room was large and comfortable for a family of 4 with a large recently renovated bathroom. Unfortunately the room was very claustrophobic because although it had windows they were quite high up and thus difficult to look out. The room also had a nasty sewage smell coming from the bathroom.

Hotel Roma is a nice clean European style hotel. Our room overlooked the Santa Maria Novella courtyard. The noise level at night was not loud at all. Every now and then you could here a car or motorcycle pass by, but nothing annoying. Our room for 2 adults and 1 baby was very spacious. The baby crib was very big...

We were there in early November and had a wonderful time in Florence. Hotel Roma is centrally located on a piazza. Everything is within walking distance with great restaurants and shops close by. The breakfast included is actually very good - one of the best on our whole trip (Rome, Florence and Venice). Our room was clean and comfortable overlooking...

I stayed at the Hotel Roma for 5 nights on a recent business trip to Florence. The hotel is very centrally located, close to the train station and in the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Very close to all of the historical sites, and lots of good restaurants. My room was plenty big with a double bed, a decent sized bathroom...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
