I have traveled to Florence in order to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. When we have arrived to the reception, around 11.00 AM, Elena helped us getting a room, even if the check-in time its 14.00. I have liked Elena a lot, since she was extremely kind and helped me some preparation for the proposal of my girlfriend. Elena and Fidelle...

For our first visit to Florence, our first contact was Edwin on reception of this lovely hotel. A very pleasant welcome and friendly at all times of dealing during our 4 night stay. Booked to give us easy access to the city and at a reasonable price, we opted for Hotel Unicorno. Comfortable room with a good bed and bathroom....

We stayed 3 nights mid May, 2017 as friends in a twin room. Our accommodation consisted of a large room with 4 single beds with ensuite. Unfortunately Room 105 was very noisy with both external and internal noise - traffic/pedestrian and water/sewer pipe noise. The room whilst being clean was very tired looking with dated furniture, fittings and linen. The...

3 stars for location was perfect and staff was lovely and helpful. We stayed there for 2 nights. The first night we were given a room next to the breakfast bar on the first floor. It felt more like a broom cupboard. We could hear the plumbing of all the rooms. It sounded like a waterfall in our room. We...

Charming lovely staff. Great location. Older but well maintained. Great value for the location - which is walking distance to everything you'd want. It was a little difficult to find as we walked from train station. You do't want a car in the area although they do have garage access down the street.

The room we stayed in was very similar to the one on the picture: modern-minimalistic design but very pleasant and functional. These rooms are on the top (3rd) floor the other two floors having quaint classicist retro design rooms. The hotel doesn`t look like much from the outside but is very pleasant with friendly and helpful staff. All rooms are...

Very nice friendly staff. Really decent sized bedrooms. Clean however bathroom was dated and small. I think some have been refurbished based on the photos. Breakfast room was big huge but a very nice selection available. A nice man at reception allowed us to leave our luggage until we were ready to leave later that day. Overall a nice hotel...

Fabulous small hotel with very helpful staff. We stayed here last week, in two single rooms. The double rooms which we were given were quiet, clean and comfortable, although I did find the bed rather firm. The complimentary toiletteries consist of soap and shampoo. The hairdryer provided is 100 watts and perfectly good to blow dry my coarse wavy hair....

Very nice staff, new modern room and bath, comfortable beds, great location. Absolutely good value for money. Parking is very close to the hotel. Fine, but little Italian breakfast, enough for a good start to the day. We recommend!

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
