Dear Eddie S, although we bear a similar name, we are located in Florence and are not even connected to the Grand Hotel De La Minerve in Rome. We are nevertheless very happy that you had a nice stay in Italy and we look forward to your visit to Florence! By the way, we are 4 stars, but freshly renovated...

I looked at a lot of hotels in Florence. There are very few 5 Star Hotels that don't break the bank and some of the 4 star offerings look very chintzy and dated. The Grand Hotel Minerva wowed me from word go. First of all, it's just 5 minutes walk from the station in a beautiful picturesque square. The decor...

Dear showbizsimon, Thank you for having stayed with us and for your kind words. I am really glad that even staying in a non-renovated room has been a pleasant experience, which is actually now unrepeatable! We have just emptied out our older rooms and in a few days we will start renovation of the last wing of the hotel containing...

This lovely hotel is within just a few minutes walk of all the main tourist attractions. The rooms we had were lovely, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were helpful and friendly. I wouldn't stay in any other hotel in Florence now - our stay was so totally enjoyable.

We had a large room with balcony on the Piazza which was lovely. The Piazza is large but one of the quieter ones in Florence so if you like a little more peace then this is great. The hotel had all the facilities but the english cooked breakfast could have been much better - good choice though. The hotel seemed...

Dear Crezzie, thank you for having stayed with us and for your nice words about our services and property. We are sorry that we did not manage to upgrade you to a renovated room, but sure enough next time you come to Florence and still want to choose us, you will stay in a freshly renovated room. Older rooms are...

Please note only 75% of the rooms have been refurbished and those that have not been are particular of a lower quality in comparison to the rest of hotel, perhaps a lower quality to many in fact. Had I been made aware of this on the website I would not have chosen this hotel. This hotel could have received a...

Dear Mr John v, I am sorry that our Classic Room have not met your expectations. Ironically you were one of the last guests to have occupied one of them, since they are currently being emptied out for renovation. From now on all available rooms at Grand Hotel Minerva are renovated. We are now working on the last 25 rooms...

The hotel was perfect for our 3 day stay in Florence. It is a short walk from the train station. The location has a beautiful piazza in front and it is an easy stroll from there to the duomo, the Uffizi gallery, Ponte Vecchio and all the other major sights. This was a perfect hotel for our stay. Amazing position a few minutes walk from the train station on a lovely piazza. Very quiet despite proximity to the centre. Really easy access to all the sites. The hotel is immaculate, pristine and beautifully presented. Good sized bedroom, great bed, and fabulous wet room with all necessary facilities. Although seemingly expensive...

The rooms we stayed in, both in coming to, and leaving, Florence (we had spent the intervening 10 days in a villa in Tuscany) were quite modern, yet the hotel's downstairs gathering rooms were quietly elegant. It sits in a beautiful courtyard with excellent views of the city. as of 10/13/16 the hotel is 90% renovated, all common areas and 75% of the rooms have been done. In November they will finish the rest, I think they said also adding a fitness...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
