We stayed here for my mother's 50th birthday. The Grand Minerva is situated perfectly in the centre of Florence with wonderful views from the roof top bar. The duomo is a 5 minute walk as well as plenty of restaurants. Our room was great, it was at the front of the hotel. It was spacious and bright. The breakfast was...

We really liked this hotel. It's a short walk and easy walk from the Santa Maria train station, so the convenience if you're coming from out of town is hard to beat. It is also minutes from the Duomo and not far from San Lorenzo and other places. The staff was great, very nice when we checked in, offering us...

The Grand Hotel Minerva is an excellent hotel and is very near to the main bus and train station in Florence. We had a deluxe room on the 5th floor, overlooking the square and it was perfect. We were room only as we thought the breakfast was too expensive, but this was not a problem as we were too busy...

Excellent hotel, great location near to the airport - buffet breakfast very good! Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Rooms very clean and a good size with flat screen TV. In a very quiet area with not much around it need to get a taxi into the main area of Pisa.

Dear Susan S, we are really glad that you had a nice stay in Tuscany. Hopefully the nice experience you had in the area of Pisa matches that you possibly had with us in Florence. Apparently your review relates to a different property. In case you actually have never been with us, well… we look forward to your visit! Filippo...

Great hotel. Newly renovated in most areas. We stayed in an unrenovated unit that wasn't as nice as the renovated common areas. The bathroom could have been better. The staff was fantastic and food in the restaurant was amazing. Sort walk to Duomo, Ponte Vecchio and the many wonderful museums. Great location!

We made our reservations directly with the hotel, and helped our travel companions and friends to do the same. We chose this hotel because of the consistently good reviews on the Tripadvisor, Also, having an access to the roof pool in August was important for us, as well. The communications with the hotel managers, especially with Mr. Giacomo Balestri, Ms....

Check in was easy, as was booking via chat online. Staff were all very friendly. Location is fantastic, short 10 min walk to the main Basilica and centre of town, great square outside and only a 10 min walk from main Train station, as we came from Venice, with suitcases. Only 5 min with no bags Swimming pool as still...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
