We stayed here for 4 days as we were in Florence for a wedding. The location could not have been better, as its a 4 minute walk from the train station! The lobby was welcoming, and the staff very friendly, but we found the rooms very tired. We were on the 2nd Floor by the stairs, and although our room...

We stayed at this lovely hotel in the centre of Florence. Everything was perfect: The lunch at the roof terrace, the view of the city both in day and night light, the service from the staff, the parking service and the breakfast. Quite expensive but definitly worth it all.

A beautiful hotel with a magnificent roof top swimming pool with bar overlooking Florence. The rooms were very clean and the staff were very helpful especially the reception staff. The buffet style breakfast set us up for a day exploring the city with all the attractions within easy walking distance from the hotel. Will return again.

Great location, great pool, great views, good service, nice price. They deliver breakfast to your room for 5E per person...bacon, eggs, croissants, american coffee, etc...great if you have kids you've kept out until midnight. The view from our balcony was outstanding. High fifth floor near the pool on the roof. Suggestion would be to take a 45 minute bus or...

My husband and I stayed at the Grand Hotel Minerva for three nights in July 2011 and were so pleased with the location and the service at the hotel. We found this hotel through Tripadvisor and the reviews and pictures were so helpful in making our decision. Our room was bright and clean and the rooftop pool and views of...

Located centrally and easy access to most tourist spots. Rooms were spacious but a little dated. They should modernise. Pool is really good. Internet was free. It is located in a very beautiful Square. Staff were very helpful.

We stayed here for a few days in June 2011. The location is excellent - it is within walking distance of anything you would want to see in Florence. It is also just a couple blocks away from the train station - beware - there are multiple train stations in Florence. The Minerva is close to the Santa Maria Novella...

We just returned from a stay at the Grand Hotel Minerva and would recommend it for anyone traveling to Florence during the heat of the summer. This is one of the few hotels located within the city center that has an outdoor pool. It's a welcome evening treat to be able to jump in the pool, have a drink and...

Couldn't fault it at all. Excellent location right near the main train station and the Piazza Santa Maria is excellent, quite lively but not too loud with nice restaurants. All major sites are in walking distance. Pool was just what we needed as well after walking round in the heat all day - in fact some days we spent most...

I stayed at the Hotel Grand Minerva Florence with my niece and nephew who are 13 and 14. The staff were so helpful and friendly. The pool, although small was a welcome relief after touring around Rome for 3 days in the heat. I would definitely re ommend this hotel.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
