I was traveling with my parents and husband and they put us in a very comfortable 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen and LR. Private parking. 1st drinks at the hotel were on them. Breakfast included. But the best part was that this family-run establishment was one of the friendliest I ever encountered, staff included. Awesome people! I would recommend... More

Stayed for two nights at the Hotel Albion in July. Great location, walking distance from all the major sights. Exceptional personal service from the staff with great recommendations for 'off the beaten track' delights. Family room was fantastic with a separate room for the children. This hotel truly added to a wonderful experience of Florence.

Stayed one week in early July. As other reviewers have said, the owners Sarah and Massimo are friendly and very helpful. Ideally located near everything, spacious rooms and charm to boot. Nothing fancy but great if you plan on spending time outdoors

Location: The hotel is an easy five minutes' walk from the main train station, and just two blocks from the river, where we often walked along to enjoy the sunset and the night view. Great eateries and furniture shops are nearby. With around 15 minutes' walk we could get to the historical centre (or the more touristry area). Room: We... More

I stayed at The Albion with my wife and two other couples in July of 2013. We all loved it. The hotel had a funky layout and it felt like we were ion an old Italian castle. The service was great the rooms were large and clean. The location was convent to Ponte Vecchio and that area. One night we... More

A wonderful experience…. Where do I even start? The Albion hotel is full of paintings and you could spend a day just looking at them. The building is very old but in a very good shape. Our spacious room had huge ceilings and was painted very nicely. The best part was to get to our room on level 2; you... More

We had a 5 night stay at this charming Florence Hotel. It is family owned and run (apparently being in the family for many years). The hotel has real character and old world charm, but is also spacious and immaculately clean. Sara and her father Massimo were wonderfully welcoming and helpful, especially with sightseeing, public transport and dining tips. Arranging... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
