This was a very nice, quaint older building. It was very nicely remodeled. The bathroom was very neat and clean with a heated towel rack and a bidet. the bathroom had two steps up to enter which was a little disconcerting at night. The mattresses in the room were two singles pushed together and were a little saggy in the...

Stayed here for our wedding anniversary at the end of Sept 2016. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room we had was spacious with a good bed/mattress/pillows, working aircon and two bathrooms. Breakfast is served daily next to the bar or in the little enclosed courtyard. Food was generally good - hot option included scrambled egg every day and...

Dear Guest, We are glad to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. We are sorry about the noise, we do all the best to avoid it, all rooms are double glazed but, as you well know, we are in the heart of the city centre and unfortunately we can’t avoid traffic or other strong acoustic noise coming from...

If you appreciate art and history you will love this hotel, which was converted from the renaissance palace that belonged to the Medici dal Borgo Family and is one of Florence’s historic monuments. There were no complaints regarding the service, the rooms or the breakfast. We booked a triple room. I had the large room with a four poster bed...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
