I stayed at this hotel as part of my Topdeck European Odyssey tour. My favourite part of getting to this hotel was seeing how close it was to everything - turning left outside our hotel entrance and walking down the street got us to the Duomo in less than 5 minutes! Really great, very central location. The hotel also faces...

We stayed here a few weeks ago, the location was fantastic , really close to the centre of Florence only a short walking distance which we really liked however we had numerous issues. We had some trouble with our door during our stay , multiple times the electronic key wouldn't work for our door in which we would have to...

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. It's older but charming and well kept. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We had an in room safe and mini fridge which was a pleasant surprise. It was an easy walk to the main plaza. I would definitely stay here again. The breakfast was just okay.

Clean, tidy, everything worked friendly staff. I would stay here again. Offered a late check out when I asked about bag storage while we did the 'statue of David'. Located a short 5 minute walk to cathedral and 10 to the train station.

Well located only short walk from city centre & attractions. Room was small, the shower was tiny, hard to move around in it. Provided hair dryer on wall overheated/stopped working before hair was even dry, so approx 6mins of use. Free wifi at hotel. Breakfast provided continental, good range of choice/options. Deco in room was old/outdated, bed comfortable enough.

A highlight of our holiday in Italy. Luca on the reception desk gave outstanding service, with excellent English, at every contact. Wonderfully located hotel, just around the corner from the Duomo, Accademia, stroll to Uffizzi and Ponte Vecchio. Spacious room recently renovated, clean and comfortable. WIFI good in dining/cafeteria area but no useful signal in our room. Otherwise I can...

I had to stay here in January as part of a tour group and I think this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms are dark and uninviting. They're not clean. We found trash in the drawers which was disgusting. The hot water takes a ridiculous amount of time to become hot or it just doesn't at...

Look we all know that hotels in Italy are going to be older and smaller, but this place was awful. I could deal with the room itself (which ranked the worst out of a seven city vacation) but the bathroom and ownership is horrible. The plumbing in the bathroom always made noises, you couldn't control the water coming out of...

We had a room for three: comfortable, large and spatious, with a new bathroom. The hotel is in a unique position, in a very well known square where time seems have stopped. Personnel is kind, breakfast is just avarage but it is a very good choice for Florence.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of an organised tour in December 2015. We had a bit of a walk to here as the narrow Florentine streets meant that the coach couldn't get very close, but this was actually a positive of the hotel's central location. It stands over-looking a large square and is a 5 minute walk down...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
