Be careful stepping in and out of the elevator. Not only is it tiny but we feared losing our fingers in the door which slammed shut quite quickly. Once we stepped off the elevator and into the lobby, we were excited because the check in area is beautifully decorated and there is a great street view overlooking the Duomo. However,...

Tiny room (they all are in Europe) comfortable though. Tiny breakfast area but plenty to eat, very small lift which could be a problem for some. Could fit no more than 3 at a squeeze. We used the stairs. Good if you can. Great location to everything. Can walk everywhere. right across the street (really) from the Duomo. The bells...

Dear SFK20162016, Thank you very much for your review. The kind words you spent for our Hotel were greatly appreciated. About the lift, it is not very big, indeed - almost all historical palaces in Florence, like the one in which Hotel Bigallo is located, have small lifts, since these structures were built long ago: lifts had to be added...

All that was good about this hotel was the location the breakfast was poor, the facilities poor and a request for ice was not possible. I would recommend looking for an alternative unless you really want to be this close to the city centre for this price

This hotel is literally right next to the Duomo making it pretty easy to find.Great central location. About a 12 minute walk to the train station. There are about 5 stairs to get up to the elevator to the main lobby. The lobby and eating area are clean, very typical of many Italian hotels. To get to the rooms you...

My sister and I had an overnight stay at Hotel Bigallo last month. The Hotel is situated in the Centre, next to the Duomo, We were warmly welcomed by the male receptionist (unfortunately we didn't get his name) who took our bags and showed us to a truly amazing room(s)! It was split level, the living area downstairs and a...

We stayed here for two nights and I can honestly say that everything was fine. The room was clean and the hotel is very central...right next to the Duomo and a very short walk from everything else! The hotel reception is on the third floor and our room was up an internal staircase - this information is clearly stated on...

We chose this hotel based purely on location and a few promises made on their website (bad move on our part). Firstly a positive, the location is absolutely amazing. The Duomo is just outside your window, which makes finding your way back to your hotel really simple. Unfortunately, that is the only positive I can think of. When we arrived...

Incredible location, but that is about it. The breakfast was basic at best. Rooms are outdated. Elevator exit is tricky and will likely cause anyone who is not sure footed to fall. The service was unacceptable. Due to Chiarra's lackluster attitude and zero attention to detail our checkout was delayed well over an hour. No apologies, just apathy. So many...

Unbeatable location, right on the square which is incredible if your room is on that side - mines wasn't. My room looked onto an ambulance bay - we booked a hotel on the square so that we have the view, i can't believe they stuck us at the back looking at an alleyway. The main problem was the rooms, they...

Very comfortable room and very nice accommodating staff. The breakfast was basic but just what you needed to set you up for the day. The Hotel is fabulously placed for sightseeing and places to eat, shop etc. Would definitely stay again. Point to note the entrance to the hotel is at the side of the shops up 3 flights of...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
