My title says it all. Our room was adorable. Location of the hotel was a convenient 10-12 minute walk from the center. It was close enough to where the action was, yet quiet and comfortable after long busy days in town. Luca was always welcoming and helpful with valuable information on where to go and what to see. Thank you!

The best hotel of our whole trip, its not even a hotel. More like an old vintage Florence place of stay, we were welcomed with a letter which detailed out instructions since we reached late in the night. Classic garden, huge iron gates, rooms in corridors like its a palace, books in every nook and corner of the place, this...

Great stay at Residenza Johana. Staff very helpful and welcoming, we also appreciated the use of their printer for printing our tickets for the Duomo to avoid the queues! This hotel is nicely decorated with quite traditional furniture and furnishings. It is located in a quiet area of the city, a bit of a walk to the centre but a...

We stayed 5 nights while seeing the sights in Florence. This residence (not quite the same as a hotel) is a little removed from the frenetic centre of Florence, but is still just an easy 10-15 minute walk to The Duomo and Uffizzi area. The area has some other accommodation and restaurants, but is less touristy. The property is located...

Dear guests from Elora, Canada, A BIG thank you for your much detailed review and appreciation towards our residence and staff and thank you as well for your kind company. Let us just refer to several issues you pointed out: - The lift in the building is indeed small and antiquated (part of its charm) but is well functioning. -...

This bed and breakfast felt more like staying in a friend's apartment. Luca was incredibly helpful and friendly and every suggestion he gave us for restaurants etc was spot on. The bathroom was a bit cramped and the location is a fast 20 minute walk from the Duomo but the quiet, residential location is a relief after the hustle and...

Great Bed and Breakfast for exploring Florence. The house and rooms are lovely with a historic touch. It feelt much more personal and unique than staying in a standard hotel. We had everything we needed. Good location for walking to all major sights. Recommended!

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
