I stayed here with a friend for 4 nights and we spent very little time in the hotel, using it as a base for sightseeing, of course. The hotel was very clean, the beds were some of the comfiest I have ever slept in and breakfast was great - plenty of fresh pastries, fruit and charcuterie. It is likely that...

Hotel Vasari is fantastically located for the station and town centre. We arrived after an over-night train journey from Munich and were extremely grateful for the 3 minute walk to the hotel! The building itself is brilliant and quirky. The rooms were bright and airy with tall ceilings and the classic shuttered windows. Breakfast was great and there is free...

I had the occasion to stay at this hotel during our holiday in Italy. Our stay was very comfortable. The rooms are reasonably large and well furnished. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and large (compared to Roman hotels). The staff there was particularly friendly, efficient and courteous. In particular, Jasmin was always smiling. The breakfast had...

We paid Euro 260 for five nights in December. The room is quite large and adequate and the hotels location is good - about a 10-15 min walk from the Dumo and 15-20 from the Uffizi. The buffet breakfast is good (you get well made tea of coffee if you ask for it as well) and the building is interesting...

We spent two nights at the Vasari and were very satisfied with every aspect of our stay. Breakfast was generous with plenty of selection. Staff was friendly. Bed was good and we had a quiet room overlooking the car park. Easy walk to all of the major attractions near the centre of Florence as well as the train station. Would...

The staff at hotel Vasari were generally helpful and hospitable. Rooms on the street side were quite noisy (other travellers with rolling luggage going over cobblestones to the train station nearby). Wi-fi in the rooms was "weak to non-existent" to quote the hotel staff. I needed to be online by 6am every day to deal with things at my office...

The staff was helpfull and unobtrusive. We liked italian breakfast. The room is adequately large for two persons and with balcony. Air conditioning was very helpfull to cool ourselves after sightseeing. Nearby are coffee bars and stores if you need something. We sur liked to come back.

we loved the fact that the hotel was pretty close to the station and just about everything that we could think of (market, sights to see, etc). what was a struggle though was dragging our luggages on the cobblestones-lined streets. but it doesn't matter because we're reviewing the hotel, not the streets. :) the hotel was neat. although, wifi is...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
