This hotel was in perfect location. We were able to walk to many of the great sites. Staff were lovely. Breakfast room overlooking Florence was amazing. The rooms were clean and well kept. Bathroom was larger than most. Decorations were ecclectic and fun to view. Price was reasonable.

This hotel is situated within about 500m of the cathedral, so virtually everywhere in Florence is accessible on foot. The rooms are cozy however not too small and the staff are lovely; always happy to help at any time of day. The Decor of the hotel is homely and in keeping with Florence as a city. Would definitely stay here...

Thank you for your comment. Florence is really pretty small, at least in the city centre, but full of things. Kind regards, Cristina

The hotel is 400m from the duomo, so less than a 10 mins walk, which is great, because you are away from the noise. We requested a room with a terrace, so the view from there of the skyline and the rooftops is exactly what was expected. We were on the 5th floor, so we had a good view. The...

Thank you for commenting. Many hotel in Florence start from a upper floor, this is because the building are originally not made for hotel accommodation purpose. There are also restaurants on upper floors. Our building was built on 1870 (about), and actually is one of the younger in town! Kind Regards, Cristina

The hotel is located within walking distance of most of the major points of interest. The reception greets you with a smile. The room was with high ceiling, beds and bathroom nice and clean, nice complimentary breakfast, free room wifi, best value for money. I will strongly recommend this hotel.

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and it was a great choice. The hotel is nicely located in a quiet neighborhood but is still easily within walking distance of all the sights in Florence. The staff was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable with modern features. The highlights are the look of the hotel which is...

This was my favorite hotel in Italy! First off, the location is great - it's about 10 minutes from the Duoma, so it's slightly out of the busy area and quiet. We reserved a triple room and won the jackpot by getting Room 16, which had a huge, private veranda with amazing views of Florence. The room is spacious and...

We enjoyed our stay here - was only overnight, but the hotel lived up to its name with amazing views in all directions. I enjoyed the hand-made craft from upcycled items that you might throw away. Quirky and beautiful. The communal living area and terrace garden was amazing. We had it to ourselves for around an hour before anyone else...

Ok so this hotel is a 2* and it feels that way. The beds are not the most comfortable and the bathrooms are definitely compact BUT this place is a good budget option. The room was cleaned daily and there was a great terrace view of the Florence sky line. The staff are not the nicest but they are helpful...

Thank you for commenting. Actually we are a 3 stars hotel, though no a luxury one. We definitely are not luxury. We are sorry you didn't find us "the nicest", and we will think on it finding out where we fail to accomplish your expectations. Baths are old, rooms are small - but this is a great budget option because of the good location, EXCELLENT breakfast and wonderful views. Somewhat surly staff used to dealing with busloads of clueless tourists. One absolutely lovely cleaning lady whose enthusiasm and hard work make up for the other women. Someone has gone to great trouble to create charm...

Thank you for commenting. WE have a tiny elevator, but it suits for 4 people. We paint walls constantly, every year, unfortunately people don't care about walls that are their home... we will find out a way to work about this. Kind regards, Cristina

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
