I had booked a room at the Medici Hotel one block away, but was taken here by the friendly staff. I guess they are one and the same. The room was without ac, it had a sharp smell and would probably not be good for you if staying for a longer time, however one night was fine. The room was... More

The room was clean and quiet and tidy, as was the bathroom. Breakfast was average. But the staff person at the desk could not have been more lovely to deal with. We were given such helpful suggestions for reasonable non-touristy places to eat, clear directions, and flexibility re departure time (they stored our suitcases until we wanted to pick them... More

My husband and I returned from a three night break yesterday, and I cannot fault this little place, the location is perfect, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and they also allowed for our dates of stay to be changed at less than 24 hours notice, due to our flight being cancelled, we arrived on Wednesday, checked in, and went straight... We stayed here for three nights, checking out this morning 21/01/16. The hotel is situated directly opposite the Duomo and ten minutes easy walk from Santa Maria Novella Station and all historical sights. Our room (106) was spotlessly clean, large and warm. The beds were very comfortable with additional pillows and duvets provided. Breakfast was adequate, coffee, juice, pastries etc.... More

This hotel is in a good location, about 10-15 mins walk to the train station, and right by the dome and piazza in the centre of the old town. We stayed in a triple room with our teenage daughter, which was very large, the beds were very uncomfortable, and the room was freezing cold (we were there in winter). The... More

we didn´t stay in the hotel we´ve booked. They changed us to Hotel Medici. The bathrooms didn´t have a bathtub, just a grid on the ground beside the toilet. We complainted and they gave us 3 room keys to go for ourselvs to see if we liked the other rooms. Found one with a square shower with a curtain and... More

Wonderful-safe place to stay! Great on the pocket, close to the train station-walking distance, amazing shopping and straight walk to the historical sites. Free breakfast and friendly staff. Cars and scooter are not allowed in the historical center which made walking around easy and carefree. I would stay again in a heart beat.

friendly staff, good breakfast, but miniscule rooms. Best feature is you are literally steps from the Duomo plaza with the church, museum, tower, and loads of shops and restaurants. friendly and accommodating staff.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
