We spent Easter weekend at Palazzo Gamba and are soooo happy we did. The hotel is located literally next door to the Duomo. One could argue that it is the single best location in Florence. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful (special thanks to Carla who went out of her way to make us feel welcome and our stay...

We spent 6 nights at this location in Florence. What an outstanding find! The staff, specifically Christina and Carla, we're so helpful and pleasant. They assisted us with finding restaurants and tours. We loved the location and it was easy to get anywhere in Florence. Our room overlooked the beautiful Duomo. I was concerned that it would be noisy at...

What can be said about the location? It is unparalleled -- right on the piazza of The Duomo in Florence. It doesn't seem possible it is so amazing. However, when my wife and daughter, and my wife's parents stayed here in October, they were treated like royalty by the staff. This time we hardly saw anyone, and when we did,...

Dear Customer, We are deeply sorry for your complain; in the days of your stay a member of our Staff had an emergency in the family and it was very hard for everybody. We really regret for the bad circumstances; all we would like to let you know is that you are always welcome in our House; it was absolutely...

We are a couple, spending 4 days in Florence. We had a top floor apartment, Giotto. Large double bedroom with separate kitchen/dining room and a bathroom. Apartment was clean and had everything we could ask for. We had the convenience of being very central. A view of the duomo from our bedroom window, (apartment Giotto). Stunning. Also we drove our...

This hotel really is all about the location. As others have said the view of the Duomo and the central square is something special. Be prepared for the sounds (noise in some instances) of a central location including the late night party crowd in the square. The rooms themselves are adequate and clean but pretty standard for a European apartment.

Palazzo Gamba's location couldn't be more perfect, situated next to Florence Cathedral, within easy walking distance to all the sights and a wide range of delicious restaurants. Our room was also very spacious, and included everything we needed to make our stay a wonderful one.

I am in siting in the room as I write this review with the view of Duomo outside my window . It's also the only place in the plaza with a Balcony . You need to get the 2 bedrooms " raffaello" to get the only Balcony room. Just sit back and people watch in the square all day ....

It has the best view imaginable, overlooking the Piazza of Santa Maria del Fiore and the Duomo. The flat is equipped with everything you could need, even a washer/dryer. The woman running the place, Cristina, was wonderful and had great tips about where to eat, shop, etc. This place is a gem.

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
