Three of us stayed in a 2BR apartment with duomo views for 4 nights over Christmas. The location is perfect in the centre of town very close to Uffizi, Accademia, Market, Odeon cinema with films in English. Easy walk from SMN train station with luggage. Building has lift to rooms. I liked the daily service, rarely found in apartments. The...

The Michelangelo suite has superb views over the duomo and baptistery - good restaurant recommendations from Marco. Alternatively the mini kitchen is handy for a snack or a more extensive meal. This property is very central so don't be surprised by a variable amount of ambient noise. Having said that listening to the accordion player from the window from a...

The rooms were spacious, beds comfortable, living space was well equipped and everywhere was super clean and so convenient to explore the city. My first contact was with Nora...

We stayed in 2 bedroom apartment for 2 days which overlooked the Duomo. So near and magnificient indeed. We have never stayed so close to a historical site before and Gamba was so close and being a centre of activities, you can see life going on- the street sellers, pedlars, the shops and the visitors all together from night to...

Our family of 5 stayed at the Palazzo Gamba in July 2013. Our room put me to joyful tears! The view from our room was the most breathtaking view of the Duomo Cathedral (see picture). You can't get a better location than this hotel. You feel apart of the Duomo square while in your room. You literally are a few...

We have been to Florence many times and stayed in different hotels and rented apartments. We'll never even look for another place the next time we return. We will stay at Palazza Gamba any time we are in Florence... our apartment here was wonderful. The views of the Duomo are incredible. We were worried that being right on the main...

My wife, daughter and I were on our first trip to Florence, Italy. Stayed at the Pallazzo Gamba. Beautiful two bed, two bathroom apartment overlooking the square beside the Duomo Cathedral. A wonderful balcony allows one to sit out and 'people watch'. All 'life' passes through this square. Marco and his staff were most pleasant and helpful. The only problem...

This place was a surprise. The most outstanding feature was the location, the main bedroom looked straight onto the Piazza del Duomo. The kitchen was well equipped. The frescoes...

Staying in Duomo

Neighbourhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
