Sadly I have to leave this perfect haven today having arrived 2 days ago from Sydney to be enveloped by such a superb hotel experience. I knew the hotel had lovely gardens but was unaware that it would be so large and beautiful and filled with amazing contemporary sculpture. The rooms are spacious with soaring ceilings. My room was in...

Can't take a photo of David....go to the foyer of this four seasons and touch an original Michelangelo. Incredible hotel. Had 2 rooms with one as an incredible suite with claw foot tub. The grounds had bigger lemons on their trees than what I saw in Sorrento grove. Sure I can talk about how incredible everything was but I just...

This hotel must be one of the jewels in the Four Seasons crown. Everything from the physical facility, to the splendid rooms, to the beautiful grounds, to the attentive staff is top-notch. Meals, whether formal dining in Il Palagio or informal in El Fresco, are excellent - especially when enjoyed under blue skies or the stars. A must visit!

It think this is still one of our favorite hotels. I really liked the lobby bar in the evenings. My wife loved the Brunch. We were there for Easter and it was amazing to see all of the large families of locals and guests come to brunch dressed perfectly.

I've been to many Four Seasons around the world, but the one in Florence is a heaven. It is situated in the vast gardens, so there's quite a lot space to walk and to entertain children. Restaurants are fantastic, and the service is uncomparable. Truly, this is what a five-star hotel to be like. This is a famous place for...

This rates as one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. It is a beautiful stylish hotel with beautiful gardens to wander around. Very close to The centre of the city. Staff and service second to none. On hearing we were celebrating our anniversary champagne and cake was sent to the room. On returning to the room after dinner...

From the moment you enter you are pampered, and yes, you pay for it, but it is worth every penny. The rooms are spacious and beautifully appointed and the hotel's restaurants serve delicious food. But the most captivating part of this hotel is its beautiful garden which is a wonderful retreat from the city. A short walk from restaurants and...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
