Enjoy your stay in Siena!
Terrible stay. Very cold christmas but the heating was practically nonexistent. We slept in a 10° C temperature and woke up feeling sick. Left in the morning and went to a real hotel. It may be a decent place if you go in summer. Location is good.
Stayed one night in Siena, and it was probably my favorite evening in Italy. I loved the space, we called to have an extra bed reserved and they were very accomodating. Two communal showers in the main sleeping area. Secure locked doors, breakfast was surprisingly fantastic!! We ate well! And the friendly owners were very sweet and let us leave our bags so we could explore in the morning. We will be back!!!
We booked a double room with a shared bathroom, and were very satisfied with the size of the room, and the amenities. In all our interactions the staff were wonderful, and went above and beyond (one staff member took our washing home to wash and dry for us as they did not have any drying facilities in winter). This is a low cost B&B just outside of town, and provided us an opportunity to see Siena on a Budget. I note some of the reviews are a little focused on the age of the rooms, the size of the TV, the shared bathroom facilities, the breakfast, and the language barrier. I do feel these reviews are a little out of step with our experience, and actually would like to maybe provide a different view to these reviews. If you are coming to Siena to stay in "modern" facilities, this place is certainly not for you, however that being said, Siena is an old town, so I am unsure if there is such a thing as "modern". The room was clean, large, the bed was comfortable, we were warm and were very happy with the "age" of the property. On our floor we had three bathrooms/showers to choose from (between 5 rooms), so there was never a problem with getting into the shower. We didn't turn the TV on once, we were in Siena, its amazing day and night and we never once wanted to sit in our rooms to watch TV. That being said, yes, the TV is small (of note we heard one couple checking in ask if there was any Australian TV ... Maybe its just me, but this seemed a little weird?) Breakfast was served 7-9am, and was very Italian in style, Coffee, Fruit, pastries and sliced meat. From time to time there was a egg dish that was provided, which was really just an egg crepe. If you turned up at the wrong time, this was cold, but I never got the impression that you could not ask for another one to be cooked. Which leads me to my last point, some of the staff were not fluent in English. As it so happens, they were as fluent in English as I was in Italian (hello, good morning, thank you, yes). We used a phrase book, we used google translate, and we had a great time trying to converse with people. Yes, some things got lost in translation, but never once did I think that they were not trying to be helpful.…
Easy to reach from Train station with the uphill esculator. Very nice B&B in typical Tuscan house. We stayed for one night. Breakfast was delicious. Too bad our night rest was disturbed by arriving new guest at 1:30am!
The room was very nice and big and we could even use the garden which was very very nice. The location is excellent, just outside the citywalls. The shared bathrooms were clean and the hosts are kind. One disadvantage was the noise in the early morning during the breakfast, this woke us up several times.
Wanted to check in at 21 pm but it wasn't possible because check in was till 19 and the woman at the telephone (no english knowledge, only italian) told us, later in bad engl. Messager, impolite and unfriendly that there was no way for us to sleep in this hostel this night even if we had a reservation. We also wanted to pay her the 20 € for coming later but she said she had a dinner that time and that this would be our problem. Thanks for nothing!
Good: This B&B is cheap right outside the old town and a short walk from the station. Bad: The rooms are very old and have a tiny TV. The shared toilet with shower over bath is small and basic. There is no air con so rooms are stuffy, if you open the window mosquitos get in. The breakfast is cold, poor and oily. On the second night my wife was attacked by bed bugs, which were confirmed by the owner when we showed her 2 bodies. She promptly gave us some cream and moved us downstairs to a family room with a better shared shower. Because my wife had about 40+ bites we bought some tablets from the pharmacy that help ease the irritation.
I enjoy our stay here. Just needed some direction to bring us to the hostel cos we can't find it using google maps. Place is great, breakfast is great. The toilet is frequently clean up, which makes it a great place to stay.
This place is a short walk from the railway station and within spitting distance off the city wall. The staff are great and the breakfast cooked fresh everyday will fill the hungriest person. Clean large rooms in a quiet location , would highly recommend.
The rooms and the bathrooms are very clean and the staff is extremely friendly. However it is a little anoying that the toilet is inside the shower which makes it wet constantly. Besides that, i can only recommend Casa di Alfredo.
