We stayed at Palazzo Ravizza for 5 nights in Aug 2021 based on a referral from a friend and had a wonderful time. Siena makes a great base to explore some of the Tuscan towns and villages. The front desk staff (Francesca, Guilin are the ones we saw mostly during our stay) we’re extremely helpful and friendly and made us feel at home. Very clean and spacious room/bathroom, great toiletries and cleaning service. The hotel is perfectly located just at the start of the old town, with several restaurants and shops close by and includes free parking for guests. There is a Carrefour express just round the corner and a laundry place (they charge 4.5 euro per kilo to wash and fold laundry and deliver it same day to the hotel). The hotel has a beautiful garden with a fountain with nice views.
We are vegetarian and the chef made a lovely vegetarian dinner for us one night, thank you!
Would definitely come back and highly recommend!

This is a fantastic hotel. Reception was always busy, but hosts were always friendly and would make time for whatever your questions or needs. The rooms were spacious with a large bathroom. Our room was facing west on an upper floor with a view of the garden and of Siena countryside. Every day we had perfect views of lights of sunrise and sunset. Location of the hotel is ideal as it's not crowded immediately around the hotel, but all the central sites are easily walkable to the duomo and racetrack, with many shops and bars along the way. The hotel only offers a light breakfast of beverage and crossiant, so if you like a more substantial breakfast you will need to go elsewhere. It wasn't a problem for us as our coffee, chocolate and crossiants were enough. We will definitely stay at Plazzo Ravizza when we return to Siena.

We stayed at Palazzo Ravissa for 2 nights (wish we had stayed longer) in early September while on a month long driving trip around France, Switzerland, and Italy. We picked the hotel as it is in a great location (within the old city walls but out of the fray, though less than a 10 minute walk to the old city center) and based on other reviews seemed to be low key and relaxing - and it didn't disappoint. The hotel is in a very old building that has a large terrace with lovely views on the lower level, pretty gardens beyond, and adequate parking (at least while we were there) below the gardens. We opted for a superior room on the garden side which while somewhat more expensive than some other rooms is recommended as it was spacious, traditionally furnished, and had fantastic views (even better than the terrace below). The hotel doesn't offer dinner (not necessary or desired with all the nearby restaurants), but has a good breakfast, and in the evening, drinks, both of which were enjoyed by us and fellow visitors on the terrace. Most of all the staff (front desk, housekeeping, breakfast service) were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make everyone's stay enjoyable. For us in particular Cecilia at the front desk was awesome. While driving to Siena our rental car broke down 30 km north of town, and after a couple hours languishing on a busy highway unsuccessfully trying to get the rental service to tow us, Cecilia arranged for a local towing service to get us. The rental car company then refused to pick up the car from the tow garage 1 km away, so Cecilia persisted with both the local rental car office and the towing service (for days, even after we left) to get the car successfully returned to the rental car location. This was one of our top 2 stays (along with Venice) on a 10 city trip, and was by far the most relaxing. We plan to return and have been recommending the hotel to folks who plan to visit Siena.

I had a difficult time to figure out the rating of the hotel since there mostly good parts and just one challenging part.
First all of the positives. The location is amazing. Sienna is such a walkable city though definitely there are areas with pretty steep streets and alleys. For those with balance issues, walking sticks like ski poles would be helpful. The hotel check in process was very easy since they send you an email ahead of time asking you to register. The room was well apportioned and there was a rain shower with good flow. Internet was fast and reliable. Small refrigerator was adequate to store your water etc. Grocery store just down the street for snacks and sodas. Numerous restaurants to eat at in the area. The view from the garden and the rooms were postcard like. Staff is friendly enough and is multi lingual.
Couple of downsides. One minor and one that turned out to be minor. We had an issue with our initial room that was not their fault and really the issue with the previous guests. The reception very promptly changed our room to one that was smaller that from a logistics standpoint was better for us. Upon leaving they gave us a lower rate since we went from the higher level of room to a lower level. The other concern was the temperature. For the end of October the weather was quite warm and the AC I think was turned off and just the fan was going. I can see that at night there was not an issue since the weather was in the 50’s. During the daytime the room heated up to about 77 degrees and stayed that way until the sun went down. Would have liked to at least a bit o flexibility during the daytime to cool the room to about 70.
There is a refrigerator downstairs that you can buy water from at 1 euro per bottle. Much cheaper than getting it anywhere else so would just pick up a couple of bottles before we went up and down the streets of Siena. Just remember that some of the bottles are carbonated and others are not. Enjoy.

This Hotel has an excellent location and great potential. But the poor service and the lack of small things almost ruin our stay. No water or any other drinks and no room service! They advertise a free breakfast but there is only fruit and croissants …and you have to arrive early to grab something. Last day we went at 10:00 am and there was nothing left. And they said, “sorry no more food! It is over” . If you are in a two star Hotel you know you don’t have these facilities, but the price per room her is way to expensive for the poor service they provide.
The gardens are fantastic and with great views, but the quantity of mosquitos become impossible to use it. One good point is the Hotel own private car parking as it is very useful for Siena. The staff guy at reception is useless and not professional at all. He should be working at camping park. Siena is beautiful but the Pallzio Raviza is not to comeback .

A former nobleman’s mansion turned into a great hotel. Location is on the western edge of town. We had a garden view room, room 19 on the 2nd floor, that had a stunning view of the Tuscan countryside and daily evening sunsets. Room was large. It had the best bathroom in Italy with a big shower. Their shower amenities are a little strange, the give you little 1 use shampoo and body wash packets which don’t seem ecologically friendly.

Had a free Italian breakfast daily with fresh made coffee and cappuccino, get there early for best selection. Staff helped with dining suggestions, one even making a reservation call for us.

WiFi was good. Parking is excellent, it is located down the hill so be sure to drop off your bags in front first. Hotel is on the edge of Siena within the city walls. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Duomo and the main city square.

This was a great deal, probably because my wife and I went in late Oct, early November. We arrived only to learn that we had been evacuated from our home in California because of wildland fires. We were fine. This is an older hotel, but we had a great view looking north into the countryside. The accommodations were excellent, and with breakfast. Plus we were able to park in the hotel's parking lot inside the walls of the city. We were within walking distance of everything. The staff was very pleasant and professional. Recommend without reservation.

My husband and I stayed here a month ago and it was an ideal hotel for touring Siena. Francesca and Julia were very helpful, cheerful, and made excellent recommendations. The Idea Toscana products in the bathroom were so nice that we bought some at the front desk. I can't wait to return.

My wife and I spent 2 wonderful nights at Palazzo Ravizza. To say our room was magnificent is an understatement (see pics). When checking out we complimented the staff on how nice our room was and were told they were aware we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and it was the “owner’s suite”. Wow. How incredibly thoughtful! Our room aside, the hotel is wonderful, and is in a great location. Easy walking distance to the Duomo, Piazza del Campo, and other attractions. Parking is available if you’re driving. They serve a good breakfast, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend Palazzo Ravizza.

We enjoyed this hotel very much. There were a couple of challenges noted below but would still recommend.

Our room was wonderful! Room #3. It is a beautiful, spacious, and comfortable king bed with a huge bathroom. The room has a beautiful sitting area, views and a large closet with a small refrigerator. The hotel has good housekeeping services and linens/towels. The key front desk staff member is Francesca. She is the main person to ask any question and for all recommendations. She holds the whole place together and is WONDERFUL.

A continental breakfast and cocktail bar is available. The location is 10 minutes from the middle of town up a hill. Siena is a hilly town so you will want to take that into consideration. I am in average shape and was fine with the distance.

There are a couple of issues to be aware of. There is a recent staffing issue at this hotel. With the exception of Francesco the main lobby staff is very new and nice but not familiar with local restaurants to guide your trip. A few training sessions would be of help.

Additionally, the restaurant abruptly shut down May 1st. Breakfast was to be included but was not. The owner provided a basket of croissants, juice and tea/coffee. It was explained to us that due to labor laws that he could not provide any additional breakfast food as promised in the room reservation rate. No apologies or rate accommodations were made for this unfortunate surprise. If you have already booked - be advised.

One of the front desk staff said there were many places to have breakfast nearby but he could not recommend any specifics and there really are not many options. My solution was to go a couple blocks to Bar 4 Contai and to a small market across the street. I purchased fresh berries and other fruits to supplement the morning croissant. Breakfast seating is really beautiful in the garden to enjoy your morning.

I seriously doubt you will require AC in May, yet it's possible. I would email the hotel, as their website states AC available in the summer and see if May qualifies for summer. Enjoy your stay, as you will absolutely LOVE IT.
