Amazing location in the heart of the city, walking distance to the main attractions and also the bus station. Staff are friendly and the room was a good size and clean.
No air conditioner meant the room was a little bit too warm to sleep comfortably. Big windows help with this but as the location is so central, there is some street noise, especially when there is football.

Nice place with large room.
A bit backpackers feeling especially the breakfast and also stuff didnt speak much english.
It was kinda nightmare to park our car, we had to walk with our luggage over 20 mins.
Next time I will book a place that offers parking.
Otherwise all good

We stayed at the Albergo/Hotel Cannon D'oro in Siena, Italy in early December 2003. It was a fantastic location. We paid 70 Euros for a double room including breakfast (off season rate). The room was fine, however, with the ceramic tiled floors as are common in many European hotels, the echo of the doors slamming in the hallways was my only complaint. It was quite noisy...and this was with the hotel nearly empty as far as I could tell. However, if you are looking for a very clean hotel, with good service, typical breakfast, and great location, I would recommend this hotel. It is a very short walk from the bus station, el campo, and right across the street from the consorzio siena which is a grocery store that sells typical tuscan fare.

We chose this hotel from many on offer, it was great value for our three night stay in Siena. It is in a great location for all the key places in the city. It is a clean, comfortable and secure hotel that was a great price. There is a very elegant hotel 50 metres away that actually costs 10 times the cost of this hotel. Most probably a lovely hotel but 10 times better? I doubt that. This is recommended by us.

We’ve stayed here many times but the previous time was six years ago so I was impressed at being remembered. The positives are great: central location, very clean rooms which are spare and elegant , friendly and helpful staff. The continental breakfast is better than it was but a little spartan. Put a refrigerator in the rooms and it would be better than some 3 stars we’ve been in. We will be back!

The hotel is located ideally in the centre of Siena.
The reception gives the impression of being in a
rather nice hotel.
When we entered our room we were shocked by
the state of the furniture. The veneers of the
wardrobe were hanging down in stripes. The bed
and the bedside tables were looking as if bought at
a second hand fleamarket. We feared that some kind of creepy crawlys might appear somewhere
in the room (which did not happen anyway).
The "electrical installations" in the bathroom were
a little dangerous so we had no real good feeling taking a shower next to a poorly insulated cable which was hanging loosely by the showers side, next to the showers curtain. However to pay
90 EUROS for one night (EXcluding breakfast) seemed to be a price which is not fair for a two-star
rated hotel which has the comfort of a youth hostel.

It amazes me that some reviewers complained about the bareness of the rooms and chipping veneer. What do you expect for 85 euros a night?!!
We stayed there on and off for two weeks while we traveled to other cities. Cannon d' Oro was the perfect home base and perfectly located in Siena. The room was clean and spacious ( I am a clean freak) and the bed was comfy. And the noise? We stayed in 11 and 36 and never had a noise problem. Front desk people were very nice and accommoding - they stored our luggage when we were in other cities and were very helpful with train and bus schedules. We were also there in the dead heat of summer but our room was cool as long as we kept the shutter closed in the day and left on the fan. It's not the Ritz but I mean really - when you are in Siena, you don't want to spend a whole lot of time in your room!! And after visiting the glorious churches and works of art, it was nice to come home to simplicity.

My only complaint? No hair dryer!

The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a few minutes from Piazza del Campo in one direction and the bus station in the other. The rooms were basic in decoration but very comfortable and spotlessly clean with a very pleasant bathroom; and were lovely and warm (very important as it was minus 5 outside). The breakfast left a lot to be desired but with Nannini's just down the road (hot chocolate to die for!) it was not a problem. I booked a single room for €45 but was given a triple for the same price. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.

We stayed here 1/2/05. We decided to backpack to Siena at the last minute so had no place in mind to stay at. The nice thing about Cannon d'Oro is that it was a nice location, not to outrageously priced at 70 Euro. It included breakfast, which was good. The noise is horrible though for both inside the hotel and out from the street. The staff was friendly and spoke good english.

Great staff, family runned hotel. Very central and easily accessible.
Major disadvantage in our staying there (august 2003) was the noise. We had the 1 st room right next to the depository room, right after the lobby. People were yelling and singing around 7am...very disturbing. We told the manager that we we not too happy...but guess what...next morning, same story. They don't even bother to close the door from the lobby to the hallway...At check out, he did knock off 10 euros out of the 80 charged. The room was rather clean but it looked like we were staying in a hospital room. Bed was made of poor quality, the lighting would be comparable to what my grand-father use to have in is garage back in the 70's...Toilet was clean and spacious, nice italian ceramics. We stayed there 2 nights but took off right after. Most probably you could find quieter rooms in this place...just ask before.
