The four star hotel “Villa Scacciapensieri” is ideal for clients looking for a peaceful, warm and cordial atmosphere.. Location : the hotel is set in its own large park and gardens on top of a little hill only 2.5 km north of the medieval city walls of Siena, 1,5 km from the train station, just on the border of the Chianti wine region; all the main sights of Tuscany are easily reached. There is a very regular public bus service from the Villa to the historical centre every 15 minutes (on weekends twice an hour, after 8 p.m. once an hour). The main villa, constructed in the late 1790s – early 1800s, has rooms on the two upper floors, while the reception desk (24 h.), " the cosy bar-lounge with open fire place and library, the private little chapel and the media-room with Internet access are all located on the ground level. There are two annex buildings "Limonaia" and "Villino" both very close to the main Villa. All rooms are air-conditioned. The outdoor swimming pool (open from May to October) overlooks the Chianti hills. We also have a tennis court, bicycles and parking for the exclusive use of our guests, there is no charge for these facilities. Garages are available on request (Euro 20/night).

Beautiful old Italian villa with lovely gardens and stunning scenery across the valleys surrounding the area. High ceilings, parquetry flooring and lovely relaxing spaces inside and outside. This hotel used to be family run for years but has recently been taken over and some improvements to the property are obviously in train. Bed was very comfortable with sumptuous linen. Large bathroom with a lovely long bath tub. Breakfast was really good and included delicious fresh pastries baked that morning. Staff really helpful. Very close to Siena by bus (buses very easy and cheap - the hotel sells tickets for €1.50 and buses pass the property and go direct to central Siena every 15 mins - remember to validate your ticket once on the bus!). Restaurant has an fantastic menu for dinner but check which nights they are open as they don’t appears to open every night. One night we were there they had a wonderful pianist playing in the corner of the dining room which created a great atmosphere to go with the amazing food. There are some photos of the “old days” on the walls - people like Grace Kelly and Barbara Hutton stayed there decades ago and you can imagine some things haven’t changed since then (in a good way). Plenty of original features which keep this beautiful villa a lovely place to stay. Also - swimming pool, tennis court… Could stay there for days and not need to leave!

Second visit to the Villa and now under new management. Generally everything is improved ( not that it was bad before ) and it is a great place to relax or use as a base to visit Siena. Main building is very traditional Italian and the pool is great with either full sun or dappled shade in the garden. Staff are very very good and the hotel accommodates all nationalities. Breakfast very good but one small complaint at the lunch and event menus - they are not extensive and are set for a couple of weeks so you do run out of choices after a few days. There is a pizza restaurant about 300 yards away or you can eat in Siena. Occasionally they hold music events in the gardens. A taxi is about 12 euros or the local bus passes the hotel. Will definitely stay again in 2024.

The good - old hotel with beautiful views from garden, good free continental breakfast spread with pastries, several granola choices, meats and cheeses. Menu options reasonable (ie French Toast 6 euro, omelets are 7), delicious cappuccino , Wi-Fi worked The bad - relatively far from downtown Siena & train station (~13 Euro taxi each way), toilet paper is literally paper The ugly - horrible bedding (my back was a mess and my wife’s neck was literally spasming next day so had to cancel our plans to get her a massage), no control over room temp (was ~80F / 27C) - we arrived around 10 PM, immediately asked how we could adjust. They sent someone up to check where our remote was and saw we just had control over fan speed. They said we would need to wait until the next day so they could send engineer in who could adjust. We had a full day tour set up so I called at 3 PM to verify it was fixed and they said yes, the mechanic was in our room so it would be much cooler. Got back around 10 AM and absolutely no change. Went down to talk to manager, girl at front desk says let me see if he’s available. Has side discussion with the mgr and another staff member, I watch the manager escape out a side door, she comes back and says the manager isn’t there and there is nothing they can do as it is an old building and central air. When we check out the next morning they try charging me for a 3rd night. If comfort and staff integrity are important to you, stay away!

Overall we had a wonderful stay at Scacciapensieri. The villa is just into the Siena countryside but not too far from the city - 10 minute taxi ride to the train station and there are regular buses which stop right outside the villa which is very helpful (you can buy tickets from reception, be sure to stamp them on the bus or you could face a €140 fine which we saw happen more than once). The villa itself is lovely, beautiful gardens and a nice pool area. The beds are very comfy! Dinner at the restaurant is well worth a try - plentiful menu with delicious dishes; the pappa al pomodoro 2.0 is a particular treat! Breakfast is a good continental selection and great coffee. The staff are all lovely and helpful, and are always on hand to answer questions. During our stay, the team were clearly onboarding new members of staff and while these staff were also very friendly, they clearly hadn’t quite learned the ropes: some service was slower and/or less polished than we’d otherwise expect. However, the more experienced staff were great, and we fully expect these new-starters to be equally great in the near future. Additionally, we are aware of how hard the wider hospitality industry has found recruiting and retaining experienced staff over the last two years, and in light of this fact (and all the other trials the industry and tourism-dependent towns have faced too) we think the team are doing an excellent job getting things up and running again after the pandemic. Keep it up! We would definitely stay at Villa Scacciapensieri again when we next find ourselves fortunate enough to visit Siena.

It kinda has an old feeling like a movie a room with a view when you drive up…. We liked the looks of it and liked our room. The reception was beyond un organized we had booked because we have 2 dogs They cater to dogs and sent us a bed and bowls but upon arrival we were told we couldn’t have the dogs in the restaurant and they couldn’t bring us a spoon as you are not allowed to eat in your room. The next day I asked another person at the desk where we can eat with the dogs and he said in our restaurant!!!! And you can room service!!!! The restaurant food is not good and it’s difficult to find bad food in Italy The place needs a better choice of foods and food management

Villa Scacciapienseri is a place with lots of Tuscan atmosphere. Placed in the suburbs of Siena it is close to the historic center, yet placed with a beautiful view to the Tuscan country side, whether you are in the room or dining at the outside terrace. Service is nothing less than excellent, warm and embracing, walking the extra mile for the customer. We had some unexpected challenges during our stay, which the staff kindly helped us overcome and for which we are truly grateful. Dining at the restaurant is also worth a recommendation. We had a delightful dinner under the trees in the sunset with excellent courses and splendid timing from the staff. Thank you Scacciapenseri. We warmly recommend you to anyone considering a stay at the Siena area

*** WARNING *** This hotel is FRAUDULOUS. I have booked a stay in August 2020. The day before my arrival, I have sent a email to confirm my arrival time and I have got an automated message that says that the hotel was closed! I have got no email message, no phone call or whatsoever. I have sent emails and emails to get refund and I have go no answer for more than 4 months. Then, a man, that introduces himself as the new property owner, proposed me a voucher but does not want to refund! This guy is communicating with the official email of the hotel, he can issue voucher, but guess what, he blames the old property. Don't looser your money, and find another hotel!

Will not recommend this hotel nor come back. Forced to avail more expensive room. Suggested also by Cecilia. Even asked her whats wrong with the room i got? Got charged for dinner i didnt avail. Just found out after checking out and left. Rooms a lot better in pictures. Location not so accessible. Use taxi. Bus not so frequent as Cecilia also mentioned. Breakfast same everyday. Service reception ok not warm. No dresser in the room. No table. Very small side tables. Double bed is 2 small single beds put beside each other. Pillows hard. Be wary of Cecilia. What she says is different from what other receptionists say. Other receptionists better. But i think she is the head or assistant to the owner? Not sure of her position. Otherwise, there is a dog gives a nice touch. Old wood furniture nice too! Villa is nice..

Another villa hotel that we loved as a family. Uma (the super friendly golden retriever mascot) sat at the front door to greet us. Rooms are spacious. Property is stunning. Gardens are beautiful. Restaurant food also superb. Staff also very friendly. Will definitely return

We stayed at Villa Scacciapensieri for 2 nights as a group of 3 friends. The hotel is quaint, and the staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly in the restaurant. We stayed in the more modern annexe building. The room was spacious and clean, set over two floors, and room enough for 3 people. The one complaint is that the walls were extremely thin! We could hear every sound from the business group next door’s night of “what happens on conference stays on conference”... there are also wooden stairs in each room and loud slamming doors which can take away from a restful night. Otherwise, a good value, well located hotel for Siena!
