It's been too long! We stayed with Marilisa and Riccardo, in 2009, and have been counting the moments till we could return! Our reunion was warm and welcoming, as ever! and the Borgo was as fabulous as we remembered it, and more! Added are a few rooms, a delightful "wellness centre" nestled at the bottom of the garden, as well... More

A quick and important caveat - we were actually guests staying in nearby San Giovanni del Pantano but our gracious host knows Ricardo and Marilisi very well and a personal lunch was arranged. Our party of six joined our host and some of her family for a dining experience that I felt should be shared with Trip Advisor readers because... More

The Borgo di Carpiano has everything: gorgeous hillside setting, transcendent food, lovely guests, central location to so many of Umbria’s sites and villages. Most important, the owners, Riccardo and Marilisa, have brought many years of hospitality experience and exquisite design taste to this one-of-a-kind hotel. The breakfasts at the Borgo are beyond wonderful, with a rich buffet offering of anything... More

Our second visit to Borgo di Carpiano was, if possible, even better than our first. A straightforward flight from London to Perugia and a simple enough drive - as long as you follow the instructions! We were greeted by Ricardo, a glass of prosecco and a wonderful lunch on the terrace which set the tone for a perfect break. We... More

Sometimes, when you are travelling in Europe, you find yourself in a place that is so good you have to pinch yourself to make sure you aren't dreaming. Borgo Di Carpiano is just such a place. We stayed there for 3 days with my brother and his partner and we really enjoyed ourselves. The lounge room, which used to be... More

We stayed at Borgo Di Carpiano for three nights in early June and had a truly wonderful time. This is the second time we have stayed at Borgo Di Carpiano and it most certainly won't be the last. Ok it takes a bit of perseverance to get to the Borgo. However like the pearly gates one presumes you have to have been good in some way to reach heaven. This particular hideaway is only for those who enjoy understated quality. If you like reading a book or luxuriating near the pool which looks over a hidden valley maybe... More

I have known Marilisa & Riccardi Parisi since they owned a wonderful Hotel on the north coast of Antigua. They visited Italy in 2001 and discovered the site and set about making it into what must be one of the most unique and fabulous places to stay in not just Umbria, not just Italy, but anywhere in the world. We... More

This is the most fabulous place that cannot be missed. The best of everything is laid out in front of you. This is a 5-star experience. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The ancient castle of Carpiano is among the hidden treasures of beautiful Umbria. This small hamlet is located at only 12 Km from the medieval town of Gubbio and 22 km from Perugia. In this pleasant place simplicity, elegance and warmth of genuine hospitality are ideally combined. The Borgo is surrounded by secular olive trees and lush woods in a pristine valley crossed by the Ventia stream. The three stone buildings that comprise it are perched on a spur of rock that ends with an infinity pool of salt water overlooking the valley. In the main building, the old church has been restored keeping the original frescoes and has been now converted into library and conversation room hosting classical music concerts and events. During the winter months meals are served in the large dining room in front of the warmth of the old fireplace while in the summer are served in the small square with breathtaking view over the valley.Home made bread, cakes and biscuits, vegetables from the vegetable garden and a search of quality ingredients, all strictly "seasoned with our own olive oil" ....The Borgo has only eight rooms all renovated respecting the original architecture and materials of the time. Get lost in the woods, plan to do very little, get accustomed to the silence are recommended activities!Borgo di Carpiano is also an ideal setting for an exclusive place to celebrate with your friends a special occasion. In house wine, cheese and olive oil tasting, cooking classes, therapeutic treatments and relaxing massages can be arranged. Horse riding, golf, rafting can be found in the nearby surroundings. The Borgo is in a strategic position to visit all the major Umbrian towns. ... more   less
