The hotel is right across from the main train station, bringing all the advantages of the location (shopping opportunities, restaurants, public transport) but none of the disadvantages you might expect. Even with this central location, the rooms are quiet. My room on the side of the train station pointed due south and was light and pleasant. A free mini bar and bath utensils as well as amenities like slippers, bathrobe, umbrella are all provided for, and should you wish for anything else, contact the staff and in 2 minutes they will deliver it to your room. The hotel prides itself on two things: friendliness and organic produce and amenitites. Both promises are fulfilled. The breakfast buffet is regional, organic and very good! Even the coffee and creamer provided in your room ist organic, as are all the free bathroom supplies provided. The spa in the basement is free and very nicely equipped with a Kneipp walking bath. The service is not only impeccable - the staff is open, relaxed and friendly. I was a bit sceptic of the hotel slogan "Come as a guest, leave as a friend." I have changed my mind - the Gaia delivers in full.

Though the bahnhof location can be a bit offputting, it's central and easy to move around Basel without a car. The breakfast was generous and varied, and we loved how it is available until 12pm so you can make the meal more of a brunch rather than early breakfast. The room it is served in is likewise lovely, full of history with high ceilings and colorful stained glass. The spa was a treat, but be sure to reserve in advance of your stay especially given COVID-19 circumstances.

Loved this hotel. Location couldn't be more convenient for train travellers - just steps from SBB Gare, obviously city trams or buses stop is right there as well. Surprisingly, there's no noticeable noise in the room from all this transport. The hotel personnel is definitely doing their utmost to make your stay comfortable, all of them are nice, friendly and helpful. I was even given a small but pleasant gift on my birthday (I actually visited Basel as my birthday present but the hotel added its warm touch to it). Breakfast was rich, room was clean and cosy, and the spa (tiny but also cosy) included! My only suggestion would be to perhaps think of adding some kind of jalousie to the windows or at least a bit more dense curtains to reduce street light. Still, it wasn't much of a problem, especially with the high quality mattress that ensured a good sleep:) If I ever be back to Basel, I'd definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed all organic breakfast. The spa was reserved only for us as a private because of the Covid-19 situation. The staffs were kind to us. Unfortunately, we couldn't book for massage even before two days. Additionally, there wasn't a double sized bed but was two single beds for a couple stay.

Dear Hosana, Thank you so much for your review. The current situation has one big advantage: our guests enjoy the SPA area exclusively and in total privacy. We are sorry about the massage, we are aware that is not ideal and we are working on a solution so that our guests can book massages at short notice. Regarding the bed, we have rooms with double beds and rooms with two single beds. In case you are not fully satisfied with your room please do not hesitate to inform the reception. Our front office team will be happy to solve the problem and find an appropriate solution. We are looking forward to welcoming you soon again at the GAIA Hotel. Best regards, Philip

Great place, a surprise in a way, great value, very well located and lovely food. I ordered room service and had breakfast, also a free mini bar with all organic drinks. A link the the suppliers would be great. Sherilyn on reception was super helpful. I will definitely stay here again.
