Extremely friendly, available and helpful staff. Very good food served directly in the room, very short waiting time. Good organization. Easy check in and check out The room was very quiet and clean The service also on Sunday was guaranteed
First time in Basel so first time in Hotel Alexander and was very presently surprised being that it's a 3*. We were a bit early arriving but this was not a problem, the guys on reception asked for a couple of minutes the check our room was ready, they could have told us to wait until checking in time but didn't and we were given our key to a basic but spotless room. Every member of staff were very helpful and friendly, for breakfast there was plenty of choice and of a good quality, all in all would use and recommend this hotel. Only downside and don't think it's the hotels fault but the restaurant shown on tripadvisor has nothing to do with the hotel and also there is no bar again shown on tripadvisor.
So, after an almost 12h day's work and a 3.5 hours drive, we finally arrived just a bit before 11 pm to the hotel, longing for a good night's rest. You can imagine our displeasure (to put it mildly and politely) when our reservation was not in the hotel's reservation system and there were no rooms left. From there, we were taken to another hotel 3min walking distance that belongs to the same owner, but a 2* hotel, the Hotel Rheinfelderhof (instead of a 3* that we had initially). We were not even proposed a discount, breakfast the next morning or even a drink that evening and paid the exact same fee we were to pay at the Alexander hotel. Since bad moments (or news) always come in pairs, we went to our room to get some rest, only to find soggy mattresses, a stained carpet, a beaten armchair, dust here and there, a candy wrapping paper in a corner and even a dead bug in the bed. Happy to say we left early in the morning and, as you can imagine, never to come back. I advise everyone to do the same. …
Stayed here for 4 nights and was happy with the cleanliness of the room. Had a single room which was much spacious than I envisaged. Check in was smooth and quick, staff friendly and helpful. The location was perfect since there was a tram right across which took you to the town center (Tram 14). There was another which goes to the train station (Tram 2). It was just a few minutes walk to the Congress center where I had some of my sessions. Breakfast was fine.
Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Rooms are small, with no amenities (bring your own shower cap, cotton buds, cotton pads, body lotion), however they are very clean, bottled water is free of charge same for the coffee/tea bags.m. There is no TV, no air conditioning. The bed was comfortable. There are several trams nearby taking you to Beyeler Foundation #6, railways Station #2 (where you get Bus 50 to go to the airport). The hotel is next to a restaurant where you can eat until 11pm and the waitress is so helpful.
