We stayed at Ibis Budget hotel for 2 nights with our 4-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, during this stay, no matter how careful we were, our daughter hit her head on the top bunk four times. The last time she hit it very hard and her head was severely swollen. No precautions were taken on the part of the upper bunk beds where heads could hit. It could have been covered with sponge or a different precaution could have been taken. We hurriedly asked for ice from the reception, but they said there was no ice! They told us to ask for ice from the next hotel, we rushed to ask for ice from the other hotel, they should have helped us with this. Also, yes, we made a reservation knowing that the rooms of Ibis are small, but after a certain age, the human body cannot handle such a small room, there is not even room to walk or put things in the room. The sink is in the room, next to the bed. The toilet does not feel private. There is also no water or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Thin, towel-like things that don't look much like towels were placed for the family of three. There is no head towel, hand towel or hair dryer. Next time, I would prefer to pay a little more and stay in a hotel that provides even a little comfort. It was very annoying and sad when my daughter hit her head on the top bunk bed 4 times.

Hotel's Favourite
I have stayed in many Ibis budget hotels and this was by far one of the best ones. The ladies at reception were extremely friendly and helpful and the gentleman who was in charge of breakfast provided first class service. All hotel staff spoke German, French and English and were very approachable. The room was nice and tidy. I was given a Basel card at the hotel, which allowed me to use public transport free of charge and provided access to various museums with half price entry. Although this hotel is a 15-minute walk from the train station Basel SBB, there are 2 trams that one can take from Basel SBB that lead to a tram stop, which is a 2-minute walk from the hotel. I had a great time here and can highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Basel. Thanks to the Ibis team for a great time there!

This is an excellent value. The hotel is relatively new, in good condition, and very clean. The desk staff are friendly and helpful. The lobby has a small lounge area, also with outdoor seating. As expected, the rooms are small, but are quite well designed with efficient use of space. The only aspect that I missed was the lack of a coffee or tea pot to heat water. The location adjacent to the train station is convenient. I will definitely stay here again.

I don’t recommend the this place for families. The staff was not friendly until it was time for checkout and they asked us to write a review.Inside the room there is a sink shower is separate and toilet is separate which has a stupid sensor light which turns off many times while using the toilet. Get a better place to stay.

Very basic rooms with little hanging space, no drawer space and inconvenient bathroom set-up. AC ran 24 hours but room never got really cool, nice breakfast, lobby & front desk. Service was great, allowed early check in upon request, nearby shopping/eating and trams to downtown. Likely would not stay again.

Look no further, book this one. Free Basel travel included. The ONLY reason I’ve marked it 4 star instead of 5 is due to the value for money. This is an Ibis Budget and we paid £270 for 4 nights which I think is a little expensive given it’s a budget and you get a very small/compact room. The towels in the room are also very poor - clean but very small/thin. ALSO if they put you in a front facing room, be aware, train tracks run opposite the hotel and the trains are very loud. However, (the good bits) the hotels location is fantastic. It’s a four minute walk to the closest, most convenient tram stop (Peter Merian) for trams directly into the city. Number 10 and/or 11 tram arrive every 5-10 minutes and run into the city all via the main train station (Basel SBB). The hotel is super quiet on a night, never heard a sound from any of the other rooms or communal areas. We didn’t book breakfast, but at check in they explain it is 14 CHF per person - something to bare in mind if you’re considering pre booking B&B. The staff are nice too, more than willing to help and answer questions. We had an issue with our AC and they moved us into a different room without any persuasion - sorted nice and quickly. When you book in, staff will charge you city tax (around 7.5 CHF per night) and they give you a BASEL TRAVEL PASS which entitles you to free public transport for the duration of your stay which is UNBELIEVABLE as Basel is very expensive and you’re always on and off trams and busses - depending on your plans. It does not include trains out of Basel SBB. Tip: When arriving into the airport, head outside and take the number 50 shuttle bus into Basel. It will drop you off at Basel SBB. Take a 10 or 11 tram from outside the trainstation and get off at either Peter Merian or Münchensteinerstrasse (the hotel is inbetween both stops) and it’s a small walk to the hotel. However if you don’t mind a walk, if you head east from Basel SBB, the hotel is 20 minutes walk. You can’t miss it.

High points: good localization, fair price, cleanliness, great breakfast. Low points: we faced a 45 min wait on the line for the check in (there was a long line every day during our stay, so we assume it was not a one time thing), shower alters hot and cold water on its own, room window can only be closed and opened with a key that needs to be borrowed from the reception and returned within 5 minutes (the 5 min rule was always emphasized by the staff - crazy, why just not provide a window that opens or a key for everybody?!!).

Hello dear customer, we are sorry if we did not meet your expectations, and thank you for the positive things you said, we would like to point out that perhaps you arrived at a time of great turnout and our collaborators do everything possible to be fast and precise, as far as Unfortunately it concerns the window and it is a rule imposed by the city for safety, but you can always go down to the reception and we will certainly find a solution. Best Regards Ibis Budget Basel City

Our recent stay at ibis budget Basel City was great. The hotel offers budget-friendly prices and great location near the city centre, perfect for exploring Basel's attractions. The friendly staff provided superb service, ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. Although the room was small, it was comfortable and well-equipped. We enjoyed the cozy lounge area near the reception and the convenient luggage storage service. Overall, we highly recommend ibis budget Basel City for its affordability and great location.

I’ve stayed at a few ibis budgets and this was ‘okay’ but not one of the better ones. Firstly, the staff were all really helpful and friendly, so full marks there. However, the rooms really are small and the twin beds were pushed against each other, making it effectively a double room. The sink was slow to drain and the bathroom was separated only by a curtain (the toilet did have a door, though no lock). I appreciate the price is cheaper than other local hotels but other ibis budgets I’ve stayed in have felt like budget hotels - this felt like a hostel. Travelling alone it would be much better but I would not return here in a twin room.

When in a strange city, particularly a pricey one, it was nice to seek out this budget IBIS that was on the streetcar line. Area of town was a bit rundown and the bar not particularly inviting, however we were able to find a yummy restaurant walking distance nearby.
