We had heard about Schwert Thun from our daughter who stayed there last January. We knew that we had to stay in Room #6 given that it was huge, as well as comfortable. While the 1960s decor was interesting, we especially liked the dining room downstairs where breakfast was served, and the friendly staff (Andy and Rebecca) as well as... More

The Schwert Inn is very coo. It is an old inn, renovated in a style that is respectful of the past but reflects a current sensibility. Our room was simple, even stark, but I think that was the goal. It had a vibe that you would expect in the older home of a hip friend. Note, no TV. The bathroom... More

My buddy and I stayed here two nights and it was great. The staff is exceptionally friendly and the included breakfast is European perfect (cheese, musli, coffee, bread, yogurt, nuts, dates). The location is as good as it gets. Stairs to the castle are 15 meters from the front door. Start your walk through old town dining and along the... More

This B&B is situated in a wonderful historic building in the old town section of Thun. Dana, our host, was very gracious and helpful and we loved it. The breakfast was delicious. WHAT SURPRISED US THE MOST WAS THE FABULOUS RESTAURANT SCHWERT NEXT DOOR. IT WAS FANTASTIC! I love lamb and it was by far the best I have had in... More

Thun was a much nicer city than Interlaken and an easy train ride to Bern. The free bus pass was excellent for jumping on and off the 21 between Thun and Interlaken. Great location in the City, close to the castle and just the right distance from the train station. We stayed at 4 hotels/B&Bs during our trip to Switzerland... More

I stayed three nights at Schwert Thun with my husband and three adult children in May of 2015. We were all very happy with our stay here. We were booked in rooms 1, 2, and 4 on the second floor. The rooms were very clean and beautifully maintained in a style that blended the present with the past in a... More

We choose Schwert due to its brilliant location, web description and reviews. We had room 6 on first floor, thankfully as the stairs are steep and our cases heavy! We felt the owners could have been more forthcoming, as just explaining the room key, security and breakfast times is a bit too minamalistic. A warmer reception would really have been... More

“Room Tips: Room 1 - Our two daughters stayed in this room and fully appreciated the size and beauty of this room. They did mention that some noise could be heard from a nearby bar/restaurant later in the evening, but not enough to interfere with a good night's sleep. Room 2 - Faces the back side of the hotel and has a view of the castle from the window. Includes an in-room sink.”

“Choose room # 6 ( this room is huge with beautiful, freestanding shower, sink and toilet) or # 1 ( with shared bathroom)! If you intend to stay a week or longer, the absolutely stunning, newly renovated attic apartment might be of interest and perhaps a better deal than renting a room below...!”
