My partner and I spent a week at Chalet Espen at the end of January and can highly recommend the location - even for non-skiers. We loved the winter scenery with snow covered mountains all around, and Engelberg is certainly in a beautiful setting. We found new areas to walk for each day of the week, had fun sledging down...

I can not recommend Chalet Espen highly enough. This was our first winter holiday as a new young family with an 11 month old, and hosts Simon and Catriona pulled out all the stops to make our holiday as comfortable as possible. No effort was too much for them, and they always made the special meals we required for our...

Will definitely return - excellent food, chalet and mountain. See more detailed review before for a why! Its all true. The mountain itself is all about off-piste. Its a mini-chamonix without the Brits. My only other tip is, beware the speed cameras in Switzerland. Variable speed limits and hidden cameras make for an expensive hire car experience.

We hugely enjoyed our week at Chalet Espen: we were equally impressed by the place and by the hospitality. This was the best-kept and most-comfortable catered ski chalet that we have stayed in. Simon & Catriona looked after us very well and served excellent (and extremely generous) meals: a varied menu, good-quality ingredients, great cakes at tea and plenty of...

Duncurin Publishing and friends ( 15 in total ) were fortunate to spend New Year 2013 in Switzerland and we all felt once again that there was no finer place to do so than at the Chalet Espen. Simon and Catriona Bennett were on hand to make sure that our stay was as wonderful as it was last year with...

Simon and Catrina are wonderful hosts, chefs, conversed with all members of the family (12 in total ranging from the age of 16 - 83) with the same courtesy and enthusiasm. The chalet has been beautifully renovated and laid out well. The chalet is well suited for groups whether made up of friends or a large family. After a days...

Three families and the entire Duncurin Publishing team , fifteen of us, have just got back from a simply superb visit to Chalet Espen. This is a beautiful, well appointed and well kept chalet. It is in a quiet location on the edge of the village of Engelberg but ideally situated for a walk into town or to access the...

I chose Chalet Espen for a large party, on our first trip to Engelberg, on the basis of resort, price and recommendations. We were not disappointed. Location: Chalet Espen is conveniently located for Zurich Airport and 10 minutes from Stoeckli ski hire and ski lifts. Accommodation: The chalet has been renovated recently. We found the furnishings and facilities to be...

We chose this chalet based on the unanimously favourable reviews on TripAdviser. How right you all were! We just loved everything about this magical place, from the warm welcome from the hosts (which began with helpful emails even before we arrived) and the spotlessly clean rooms to the delicious fresh breakfasts and the useful hints about where to hike. Even...
