At the top of the GROSSE SCHEIDEGG! It is the perfect stop to strengthen the body after a climb to the top. We've enjoyed the cake of the day! Amazing how good the yellow pudding in the cookie was! I can also recommend the good coffee! The staff in the hotel is extremely friendly.

We came stumbling into the hotel late in the evening after a 8hour hike through rain and hail. The person who greeted us immediately got us to our clean, warm dorm beds. When we realized we would be arriving late, we called ahead to confirm that we were still coming.... And they agreed to keep the kitchen open and welcomed...

We hiked here as part of a week-long backpacking trip- traveling from "hut to hut." The location is beautiful, with stunning views. The hike from First is lovely and quite manageable. The property is very clean. The rooms are small but comfortable. Bathrooms are shared and down the hall. Showers are on the basement level. Although the salads were excellent,...

The rooms are basic and you really need ear plugs. 2 cm of wood separates you from your friendly neighbours, and they might not be so aware of it as you are. The staff is friendly and the food is all right. My wife and I chose this in contrast to Hotel First where the guests are just a number...

We have been there a week ago and it was okay. The "owners" were really nice, the room was okay and the food was okay as well. I'm mean it's an mountain Hotel and not a five star class Hotel. So you shouldn't have to many expectations. For us it was totally okay and the price for sleeping in a...

So we seemed to have a better experience here for lunch than others. Our salad and rosti were fresh and they were quick with a beer for us. Service was fine. We were just passing through from FIRST on our way to Gleckstein Hut. Only two other tables as we were here in Sept and on a rainy day, so...

The welcome at this hostel wasn't the warmest we received in Switzerland, and then we were berated for not giving at least 24 hours' notice for a vegetarian meal (which wasn't a problem elsewhere). Our evening meal here also turned out to be the worst of our trip - overcooked and bland. The breakfast was bread, cheese, meats, juice and...

Whilst hiking to grosse scheidegg we had very little other options, in fact I think this is the only place to stay. The prices are quite a lot for what was essentially a hostel. The food wasn't great even after hiking and the fact there wasn't a shower when paying the amount they charge isn't really understandable. The views from...

We were having a day out, intending to do the walk from Grosse Scheidegg to First, but this was still closed by snow (end May 2013). So we called in at the only restaurant up there - the Berg Hotel. The typically Swiss menu was fairly priced (by Swiss standards) considering the location - i.e. similar prices to down in...

We stayed here while hiking part of the Swiss Alpine Route. We stayed in the annex located a few dozen feet from the main building. The annex is new, and the three double rooms share a shower and bath. The rooms are quite comfortable. The shower runs out of hot water quickly, so if you're not the first or second...
