My plans had been de-railed by traffic and the difficulties of getting "in" to the Peak District from the NW. Arrived after breakfast, before lunch. People at one place weren't interested in my business... except what I had to pay to use their car park in a small country town on a winter's day when there was no demand... but...

Visited for a meal between Xmas and New Year as we were staying in a local cottage. Very friendly welcome with a great log fire going. Good beer on tap too! We went for the grill menu and ordered the burgers.....clearly local produce and made well. They were HUGE and great value for money (see pic...Farmyard burger all for £15)....

We hadn't visited the Olde Cheshire Cheese for a while as for the past few months it was sometimes closed when we called. Apparently under new management now and it was open on a Tuesday night. The pub had lots of festive decorations inside and out and there is a blazing fire with comfy leather sofas and chairs if you...

We had heard such good things about this place that we decided to have a run out from Macclesfield for Sunday Lunch. Pub was nice with a roaring fire but our lunch was not what I was expecting at all. We had a beef Sunday dinner which was completely disappointing. Not fresh seasonal veg as told but straight out of...

We visited over a weekend en route to a Christening. The weather outside was wintry, but a blazing fire soon warmed us up. The pub served a good selection of beers, I done became accustomed to the Dizzy Blonde (beer not barmaid...) We enjoyed a good meal which was well presented and generously portioned. Our accommodation in the converted barn...

Informal country pub, blazing fire, dogs allowed, friendly service. Easy parking. Good varied menu. Inexpensive. Food nicely prepared, prompt service. Walkers welcomed, when we arrived walkers had taken off their boots and drying them in front of the fire. No one stands on ceremony here.

We stopped here for something to eat as we were staying up the road at the holiday park.. The welcome was a little cold from the barmaid.. We ordered drinks and sat down.. We were so hungry that we decided to stay for food.. Once we had ordered the staff became more friendly.. My boyfriends Tower burger was huge.. We...
