Leonardo Hotel Lelystad City Center is situated in the city center of Lelystad. The 4-star hotel is easily accessible from Amsterdam, Almere and Utrecht. Lelystad lies in the heart of the former Zuiderzee district, has the longest coastline in the Netherlands and is nestled in the middle of many historical cities around the expansive IJsselmeer area. From here, you can easily visit the Walibi fun park, the Dolfinarium, the Aviodrome and Bataviastad. Boat enthusiasts can truly indulge themselves in the Bataviawerf and take to the water on the Oostvaardersplassen. Lelystad also encompasses several museums, including the Nationaal Ruimtevaart Museum (national space travel museum) and the Aviodrome Luchtvaart Museum (air travel museum). It is also possible to see a replica of the VOC ship "de Batavia" for yourself.

Detailed Reviews
The room was clean and the chairs/ bed were comfortable- although the bed was made up as two singles pushed together which moved apart during the night. The bathroom had a bath with an overhead shower - good water pressure and plenty of hot water. A good range of toiletries was supplied.
The main problem with the room was that it was very dark. If we opened our window in the evening there was a very strong smell from the restaurant below.
We mistakenly believed that Lelystad was more touristy than it is and that Batavialand would be in easy walking distance. However, there were lots of places to drive/ cycle to.
Parking was in a public car park over the road, costing a maximum of €6.50 per day.

We stayed at Leonardo one night in order to have a early start to Lelystad Aviation Museum. We didn't drive so this hotel is the best for us to come by train then bus to the Museum. Within 10 minutes, train/bus station, supermarket, shopping street, restaurant, bar are just steps away.
The reception is very friendly, the staff at the dinning room (breakfast buffet) work hard to refill the food, cleanup after. All did a great job to provide a pleasant envoiment .
This is a small town and not many choices of hotel, if we come back in the future, we sure will stay here again!

This a great hotel and centrally located in the city of Lelystad. The room we stayed in was spacious with a big comfortable bed. Also the sofa was converted into a bed for our daughter, it was perfect for her. In the same building are 2 restaurants. Parking is right in front of the hotel and the costs are 8 euros per day.
When we need to stay another time in Lelystad we will definitely be back here.

I stayed in room 221 and it needs some SERIOUS renovation…
The good points –
Once the staff finally realised I was there, the check-in process was friendly and efficient enough.
The bad points –
The room door is severely damaged and feels unsafe.
The bathroom is old and dirty. (Red mold, black mold, human hair, and dust). Not to mention the old-fashioned polystyrene looking ceiling tiles. The shower is over the bath and has no handrail to get out of it.
The room is dark – There are no ceiling lights, the room only has a lamp and 2 reading lights next to the beds.
The bedding is very low quality and poorly made up. The mattress topper slides off the bed!
Almost everything in the room looks old, dirty, or damaged (see pictures).
The Internet is high speed, but it cuts out quite a lot.
I skipped breakfast because I didn’t want to eat at this hotel.
There is no way this can be classed as a 4-star hotel with these rooms. This room needs a full rip out and renovation.

Dear Mattwroe180, Thank you very much for your comprehensive review. I am sorry to read that your stay was not as expected. We have of course taken your feedback on your stay internally and had the room checked for cleaning and technical defects. The room you have been given is not the quality we want to offer our guests. Hopefully you shared your feedback with the reception after you checked in so that we could offer you another room. Hopefully in the future you can give us another chance to regain your trust. We have linked a note to your profile where you will receive a free upgrade to our suite on your next stay. With hospitable regards, Sander Kiezebrink General manager

The hotel is typical of many that cater primarily for business people but we were part of a tour group so the dynamics between guest and hotel were perhaps different to those that a solo traveler would experience. The checkin was efficient and friendly and there are two lifts to all floors. Our room was clean and functional and had everything we needed, enough storage for our clothes, a safe, tea and coffee facilities and a coffee machine. Also a very efficient shower. No problem with lighting in the corridor or any other public area. The bar service was excellent and there were plenty of comfortable chairs to relax in.
In contrast to the previous reviewer I found the meals to be generally very good but somewhat simple as I suspect these were prepared just for our group, normal guests would be directed to the two independent restaurants on the ground floor: a steak house and the ‘Tasty Wok’. The restaurant staff were very helpful and would do all they could to help people with allergies.
Breakfast was a very good buffet, if you cannot find what you like here then you are hard to please! I enjoyed my stay.

Lovely and convenient hotel. We went here to stay the night for a party in Lelystad. Very kind staff. The suite was nicely decorated with a balcony. I really liked the breakfast time, from 07:00 to 11:00, which is great for someone who likes to snooze in the morning (normally I miss the breakfast). Also great is that the check-out time is till 12:00. This gave us some time to play some games and pingpong after breakfast. Location is also very convenient.

Liked · The room we originally were assigned was not ideal, however after discussions with the extremely helpful staff, we were able to get a more suitable room. The customer service staff were very friendly and helpful, and did all they could to ensure we had a great experience.
Disliked · Breakfast could be improved for vegetarians by putting all the meat products in one buffet server, and keep the non-meat products in a separate one. So, eggs and baked beans together, and sausages and bacon together.

After an unproblematic quick check-in, a personal welcome greeting awaited us in the beautiful room. Very nice😊 The staff was committed, courteous and very helpful. We borrowed bicycles and asked for directions to Bataviahaven. Your friendly staff helped us a lot. The breakfast was good, the location was great. We are excited.

Having stayed at this hotel many times I was shocked to see the complacency and lack of care post covid lockdown when I would have expected some updating to be carried out. Mould, spiders, damp and broken furniture.
There is not much choice in Lelystad but I recommend traveling to Almere for a much better hotel experience.
