Stayokay Apeldoorn is located on the edge of the woods, just outside the city of Apeldoorn and is close to the lovely national park of De Hoge Veluwe. The rooms are spread across five calm wings and they each have their own shower and toilet. You are guaranteed a good time at the hostel's bar or outdoor cafe and in the evening, you can enjoy a tasty meal at the restaurant. In the case of a special event, the chefs are happy to prepare a festive buffet or barbecue.
For one night, it was perfect. We had all inclusive: bed already made, towel, dinner, breakfast and lunch box. Beer at the bar was ok, and the staff was very friendly. Very quiet, maybe because of corona. A good place to stay, when you want to hike in Veluwe.

Another excellent stay in a stayok. I only stayed one night and nice again a comfortable bed. A good breakfast in a pleasant area. Security wise one good point. The car park has a video so that if anything happens there will be any explanation. This often lacks in most stayok I have stayed. I arrived in the evening and I was welcomed with a smile. Friendly staff.

A friendly staff with a warm welcome on a beautiful location near the forest. We've held our annual two-day conference with 60-odd 3rd and 4th-year students of Utrecht University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool Utrecht) for more than ten years now. The staff goes all out to please us, and it's a great place to organize team building events or training courses. Participants will feel relaxed already on entering the lounge! And what's more, the bar and lounge area can accommodate a lot of people, which has helped make our party nights memorable ones. StayOkay Apeldoorn is definitely a great place to stay!

Basic rooms and no non slip mats provided for the shower . My friend stepped out of the shower , slipped and hurt his arm and leg , overpriced and no towels in the room . We had to make our own beds . Hardly any plug sockets to charge our phones . No one told us we had to book the restaurant until it was too late and was fully booked , so we had to walk 30 mins to find a restaurant to get something to eat. If you want any beers at the bar , don't hold your breath as the staff can't be bothered to serve you . All in all , not a very good experience and we won't be back

Hi Ian, Thank you for sharing your experience. I can imagine that this was frustrating. Because we are a hostel things are a little different than you are used to. You can always come to the reception to make your stay as comfortable as you want. Towels aren’t included but you can rent them at the reception. we are touring the Netherlands on our bikes and picked this hostel as the location was where we needed to be. I'm not impressed. we've stayed at 5 other independently run b&bs - most of which were cheaper than here but were more than better value. the hostel is less than clean with stained bedding & stains all over the material sofas in the communal areas. also the mop doesn't seem to reach the corners in the room. breakfast was ok - bread was delicious but that's the only positive I can think of. If I were to come back to apeldoorn I would look for a b&b.

The Dutch Youth Hostel chain called Stayokay is quite expensive, more so than lots of other Youth Hostels on the other hand they are better quality and standards than some I have been in. It's a 45 minute walk from the train station getting a taxi will cost a LOT - 8 euros we made sure to walk after the intial time. It's very close to Apenheul (ape and monkey zoo) and Het Loo (palace) so really good location for them.

This hostel has a nice common area for relaxing and meeting other guests. I also liked the breakfast, which was included and the pizza they cooked just for me :-) The facilities are good: locked bike shed, ensuite in each room, bike hire. A great place to stay.

Stayokay is a decent youth hostel. That means you should not expect any frills but that you can expect a safe, clean, reliable place to stay. The location is in the woods, so if you are afraid of nature, this is probably not the place for you (while we were there, there was a bat flying through the hostel). For the price, it is good value for money and the staff is friendly. Just don't expect any amenities (remember to bring your own towel, or you will have to rent one for a fee). Also, the wifi is only in the public areas, so not in the room.

Someone answered my e-mail in which I requested to enter my room after my arrival around 1:45 am. Before 2:00 am the night guard opened the door and gave me my key. I had a good night sleep and a nice breakfast in the morning.

We have a possibility to be in a new small cabin in the woods, what was indeed a good choice. A plenty of places, big bed and all was very clean. Fridge, coffee maker, shower... We have a really good time.
