This hotel was truly one of the most beautiful hotels I ever stayed at. It radiates a relaxing atmosphere through its decor and beautifully maintained outside areas. It is obvious that a lot of thought has gone into decorating the hotel and it’s been conducted with an eye for detail. The room was beautiful with a view out onto the fields as well as the hotel allotment. It had a big window which you could slide all the way open which was awesome to wake up to. The room was decent in size, and housed all necessary amenities such as iron and ironing board, Nespresso machine and hair dryer. The bathroom had an impressive rain shower with UV emitting light panel providing a very special sun shower experience. Breakfast was a very diverse and delicious buffet. Same goes for dinner which I’m usually not fond of in a hotel. This was of the highest quality though and very delicious. We also made use of the swimming pool which is a little relaxing haven enclosed by treetops. The hotel is closely located to cycling routes and rents out bikes but you need to reserve them in advance as they book out very quickly. Overall an amazing stay. I’d definitely come again to explore more of the Veluwe. One point to improve though: the first night we arrived I think the service in the outside bar area could’ve been quite better. Two of the female waiting staff were a little grumpy and not very approachable. Slightly unacceptable for a place like this.

We purchased the Sunday package, with room, dinner buffet, and breakfast buffet, wellness garden access included. For the price we paid, we got so much back! The hotel is stylish and the quality of the service is inpecable. It was a wonderful stay and we highly recommend it.

2nd visit to this hotel. Even during this coronatime they managed everything in a correct way. Many thanks to the staff. Dinners were served inside and outside so tables were positioned even more then 1,5M from each other. Perfect

What a disappointment!
The hotel is being refurbished and states a wellness, however it is not a wellness hotel! So guests expecting to be able to enjoy food and drinks in a bathroom have to re think their plan; that is not allowed you have to change in between. Also the swimming pool is very far from the wellness, so you can not go at ease between one and the other.
Also very badly isolated rooms and with other guests enjoying a party that led to luid music in our room till well after midnight and this it no sleep until then for us.
Some staff is good, some not. Upon arrival no smile and insufficient information on menu s and obligatory “how was you trip” questions, because she had too. In hospitality I expect / hope for warmer welcome.
We were laughed at by kitchen staff when we discovered bath robes were not allowed on the restaurant; even when guests make that mistake you do NOT laugh at them, you try to make them feel comfortable. This honestly is unacceptable as was confirmed by two other members of staff who assured this would be followed up.
The staff who waited us later in the restaurant were very nice though and the food was very good; that was the highlight.
However, all in all very disappointing!

When passing Apeldoorn, we decided to stop at Van der Valk Apeldoorn to use the Tesla Supercharger. This hotel and restaurant is spacious in set up and we enjoyed a drink at their downstairs bar before we continued our journey.
You cannot go wrong with Van der Valk, good facilities, good food and friendly staff .... we will use them again!

The room was very nice. The service is very prompt, I ordered a free dental kit and free shaving kit, it arrived in around 10 minutes. The room service eta was 45 minutes, the food arrived in 30 minutes. The bed is nice and comfortable. The breakfast is an extensive buffet

Beautiful hotel, not your typical, outdated "Van der Valk." This hidden gem is located in the heart of the Veluwe and offers a cosy atmosphere with modern rooms, an indoor/outdoor pool, a sauna, and a lovely garden with sun beds.
Both breakfast and the three-course dinner were excellent, with plenty of options to keep everyone satisfied. Do not expect massive portions. The hotel cares about the environment, so order more if necessary.
Although everything looks spotless in the morning, the staff appears to go into stealth mode as the day progresses. Restocking, clearing empty glasses by the pool, and tidying up public spaces gradually fall off the radar which is sub par for a hotel of this caliber.
The gym equipment requires maintenance, as do the pool lockers, which are all u/s.
There’s also a big dilemma: The hotel seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to decide whether it’s a family-friendly place where kids can cannonball into the tiny pool and sneak around underwater with goggles, or if it’s the advertised wellness retreat with pool/sauna and garden that subtly suggests, “Maybe leave the kids at home.”

Perfect for a little retreat as a couple, and this time we brought our toddler with us. The staff kindly honored our request for a room near the pool, so we were able to take the baby monitor out there with us for naps. Beautiful, relaxing facilities and lots of walking trails right outside. Great on site restaurant as well. Our favorite place for a little getaway to relax and unwind!!

We stayed for 3 nights and choose a bigger room because of the separate bathroom. from the room you look out over the fields and you can open the doors and sit there or start walking.
The beds were good. We stayed during a very cold week and the heating could just manage to keep the room reasonably warm. The 2 corridors you had to walk through in order to get to the dining room were freezing cold .
The staff at reception is efficient but not overly friendly. As seniors we had to struggle with our luggage.
Dining room food and service were excellent with enough vegetarian choices

Yes, the property "de Cantharel" has plenty parking around the property, but no parking garage. It is a very nice property in the green of the "Veluwe".
Enjoy your trip
I'm not aware of any train service, but have seen bus stop out side, they also have electric bikes you can hire to ride through the surrounding woodland and into the city,
if you contact hotel direct they will know of bus service.
