For my stay in Maastricht, I booked the first Hotel Sint Jacob, the sister Hotel Boutique Hotel Grote Gracht. Due to the impossibility of staying in that hotel, we unfortunately moved to this hotel. We traveled for a long time and were tired and happy that they could receive us. The room was on the ground floor, because my husband has problems with his knees due to the stairs, which were narrow and difficult to climb, so the option of a room on the first floor was not possible. The air in the room was stale and did not smell pleasant, but it was already late and we decided to stay. We both slept poorly, although the bed itself was not uncomfortable. The next day I complained about the accommodation, but they didn't have another room for us. The receptionists were friendly, but they couldn't help us. The room is poorly cleaned, there is a bad smell in the bathroom that spreads into the room. There was dust everywhere. There were no closets to store clothes. All in all, it is a negative experience to mark such accommodation with 3 🌟, and its sister Hotel Boutique Hotel Sint Jacob with 4 🌟. They have a modern check in/out system, but everything else is neglected.

This was not boutique quality. The room was dated. The shower curtain stuck to our bodies when showering. Outside the shower, it leaked in the corner all over the floor. There isn’t a door on the bathroom. We were suppose to have a refrigerator in our room but there wasn’t one. I asked for ice for a cocktail and they told me to put it in my refrigerator. I explained we didn’t have one and they said it must of broke. There weren’t any others. We paid for Christmas breakfast and every table was dirty but one. We sat down and they were angry at us because they were tearing down in 15 minutes. I tried to go downstairs use the restroom but the entire basement was flooded. There was dog hair all over the stairs and constant dogs barking. Save your money.

Don’t call yourself a Boutique Hotel if you can’t live up to that standard… — Room’s interior felt worn out and in need of maintenance, and wasn’t thoroughly clean (dusty corners, nail polish marks in the bathtub). — The bed isn’t a proper double bed, which leaves you sinking into a big hole in the middle constantly. — Super noisy: street sounds, but also slamming doors of other rooms and talking guests in the hallway. — Disturbing scent in the entrance hall, which my boyfriend called ‘the scent equivalent of a dj Tiësto concert’ (which I guess some people love, but not us). Over 200eu per night without breakfast included felt overpriced.

The location of the hotel is perfect for a visit to teh center of Maastricht. The personel at the desk was very friendly. The room (at teh backside of teh hotel) was rather small including the bathroom). The price was rather high for the qualiity and compared to other hotels in teh center.

The room was dark, loud and the last renovation is years ago. The walls were dirty and even the blanket was old and spotted with dirt. The whole interior is very "used". For 200 € a night (without breakfast) very disappointing. Website and reality are different worlds. But a really no go was the way, the women at the frontdesk was talking to us. We are travelling a lot, but we haven´t seen such an arrogant and unpolite behavior in any other hotel before. So never again...

Everything is within walking distance of the hotel. The bed and especially the bathroom were really nice. The room did seem to get a bit hot at night and there can be some noise from the street as the windows are really thin.

The arrival was already disappointing. - We were given a room where even my student room was more luxurious and beautiful. There were a few old pieces of furniture that were too bad for the thrift store. - The beds were 2 camp beds pushed together. - The shower did not work properly. - the promised room with cityview was a 2 meter high window where you looked directly against another residential building. That is just pure scam. - the rooms were very noisy. You could literally hear the conversation in the street from the 2nd floor. Really not of this time. - there was also no cleaning, there were still things from the previous guests under the bed, brrrr. - further there was no breakfast. That for a hotel. It turned out that someone was sick so we had to go to another hotel of the chain to have breakfast there. There it was a chicken coop because they now had guests from 2 hotels having breakfast in 1 breakfast room. - After complaining we got another room for 1 night. When we went to get the car for our suitcases, the pass of the outside door was already blocked! Now we had to ring the bell like little kids at the reception that was remote to ask if we could go in to get our suitcases still. - When I angrily said something about this to the manager, she reacted irritated, and I felt far from being welcomed and hospitable. A course in hospitality would be good. - in the new room the shower ran over immediately. When I inspected the shower it still showed dirt from the previous users, which had not been cleaned. Brrrr. We are done here. Not recommended.

Bad points: The reception did not answer 2/4 times i called.. The showers door could not close so it was kind of inconvenient and there was no hot water for the shower or tap. They provide tea and coffee packs but no boiler to have hot water and since the tap didn't have hot water i dont know what the point is. Also to the sides of the bed there is only one plug so only one device can be connected and the wifi is not reliable Good points: The service was not the worse they have 24 hour reception and the personel both times i got hold of them was really nice and polite the room was also clean and neat with a cozy atmosphere

The hotel was not what we had expected at all. The Family room that we had booked was shabby, dirty, cold and noisy. We were in the very top of the hotel (in the roof) on the street side, with a small window looking across the street to the opposite houses (not the city view as advertised). The decor and furnishings were old and tired, there was a broken stool in the room which was just left in pieces! It was not clean, there were cobwebs everywhere! The noise from the street was constant, although the hotel did provide ear plugs in the room, the fact that they did tells you enough. We had booked for two nights but were so disappointed that we left after one night. The hotel did refund the price of the breakfasts for the second day which was at least something. I don't know what the other rooms were like but I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Price quality was extremely low!
