Whilst we have stayed in modern hotels in Amsterdam our preference is for a character period property preferably overlooking a canal. The problem with this is that unless you really are prepared to spend an awful lot of money is that the rooms will usually be cramped. So, at the Tulipa we had a attractive two bed period apartment with...

The Tulipa is a great choice for travelers looking for an alternative to a traditional hotel in the heart of the museum area quarter. We booked the two bedroom suite for a family of four and took advantage of the breakfast option twice during our stay. The highlight of the spacious room was the view out of the bay window...

Tulipa is situated in the center of Amsterdam close to all amenities and the Vondelpark. The building is beautiful, inside and out, and the accommodation is above average in all respects. The downstairs two-bedroom apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower and bath, and a garden (which is extremely rare in the city). Ideal for a family with...

We stayed at Tulipa for 4 nights. We had two rooms, the double room with canal view and the family apartment in the basement. The double room was 5 star for comfort and I would thoroughly recommend it although there is a steep staircase to reach it - this is a common feature of period townhouses in Amsterdam. Particularly great...

We stayed here in early May for three days and our stay was excellent in every way. Jean and Paula are perfect hosts and helpful for restaurants, transportation, tours, etc. We gathered in the evenings in the common room with our friends for wine and cheeses prior to our lovely evening walks to dinner in the neighborhoods. Do yourself a...

We recently stayed here for five nights. We are a retired couple in good health and we like to travel casually with lots of walking. Tulipa was perfect for us. It is quite convenient to public transit and possible to walk almost anywhere of interest. The bed was great, the bathroom large with a great shower, the room wax attractive,...

This is my second time staying at Tulipa and I could not imagine it would be better than the first but it was. Paula is an awesome host. It is like visiting your favorite cousin, she recommends places to go, the best times, she is flexible and knowledgeable. They are always thinking about what would make us happy. Breakfast was...

We stayed for two nights in the large canal room which was perfect for our family of 4, with 2 kids age 14 and 12. The room was huge and plenty of space and light. Our hosts Jean and Paula couldn't do enough for us including informing us of a lot of local information. Thanks Jean and Paula, we hope...

This B&B is run by a lovely Dutch- British couple who do their utmost to make one's stay comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfast they serve is probably the best we had in all of Europe. Great hosts, great B&B, great city - we had a great stay!
