the appartment is amazing, very close to the center. the only thing which bothers me was the stairs they are bit tricky as my apartment was on 4th floor. i had to climb up alot. Otherwise the place is amazing.

For a hostel it's average price for Amsterdam but still pricey. It has good showers, comfy bed and fairly cheap breakfast for the amount you get. It is about 15-30 mins walking distance from everything (museums, main squares, red light district etc) and trams are close + cheap too. However, it isn't a very friendly hostel - most staff apart...

Two adults and two teen agers on Inter-Rail stayed at Hotel Van Gogh for one night. We slept in a 8 person dorm. The room was packed with bunk beds. But, it was very very clean, also the bathroom (our room had a bath room of it's own). Something about the atmosphere at this place made people behave very quiet,...

So I went on a solo trip to Amsterdam for my birthday, thinking I would meet people at the hostel - nope. Thinking there would be a communal area to mingle with people, however when I got there, there was only the breakfast area which had the chairs up throughout the day. I feel like a good hostel, needs a...

I am glad we spent a couple days close to activity in Amsterdam, but I feel like there were better spots. In fact we also stayed at the Apollo hotel, which was great but a bit further out. It felt like a budget hotel for a non-budget price. The hotel room was fairly small but functional. We also had a...

Stayed in a 6-person dorm for 4 nights. Overall experience was below average due to the following reasons: 1) A Chinese Asian guy at the hotel reception who was rude and dismissive when questions were asked regarding information around the area. His attitude was bad and sounded very impatient! I do not think this is how customer service should be...

Very hostile stuff . Not pleasant at all , desk clerk was giving a stern look at anyone who passed him and was frowning most of the time. They changed breakfast rules daily , although breakfast was good . Poor internet connectivity . No place to sit in the lobby while you check in . Rooms were fine and clean...

I love my staying when i was in Amsterdam and very recommended. Their breakfast was great too. Not so many options but i love the croissant and the coffee the breakfast. The places is very convenient, public transport just across the road, the luxury shops just right behind the hotel if you want to shop around, walking distance.. :) Overall,...

Driving a group of students for a three day educational trip in Amsterdam, we were booked into this hotel/hostel. Rooms were clean and tidy with all facilities included. Flat screen tv, Nespresso coffee machine, safe, telephone, hair dryer and soap/shampoo. Plentiful continental breakfast on buffet too. Very little noise in hotel, even though there were two coach loads of students...

This hotel is what you would expect for the price! It's clean and quite quiet, although some rooms are next to 'share rooms' that can be a little noisier if there is a big group in. Although the single room was very small I managed no worries, and the bathroom was nice and clean too.

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
