I stayed 3 nights at Van Gogh Hotel and arrived really late everyday. So, for what I needed, the hostel was nice. Breakfast - 5€ was good. Not the best, though. Room and bathroom really clean. No complaints at all. Wifi was not working inside the room on 2nd. floor. If you are into museums, I highly recommend it because... More

I went to this hotel, that is more like a hostel for those who are traveling on budget, and I had an enjoyable stay. There are AH close to the place and it is reachable by foot from Amsterdam Centraal. The highlights of this place are the breakfast and Yvonne from reception, she is one of the most fantastic and... What they did have: - Friendly front desk staff, willing to help me to find tours - On-site bike rentals (first bike had bad brakes but second one managed a 40k ride (heavy though) - Good breakfast for 5 euros: high quality croissants, Nutella, hardboiled eggs, bacon, fruit salad, etc. served in a dining room with hard tables and chairs... Good value for price, most staff very friendly except one receptionist who was very rude! Other than him, my stay here was very enjoyable! Not a bad location either, quite a few bars/ restaurants 10 min walk and about 25 min walk into centre/red light area.

Hotel Van Gogh is perfectly located for visiting the major museums; easy walking distance. The tram is a few steps away that will take you into the heart of the city. Shops and restaurants also close by. The hotel rooms ( we didn't see the hostel accommodations) are modest but clean and very functional..good bathrooms and showers. Reception staff were... More

We stayed in the youth hostel section in an 8 bed mixed dorm for 2 nights and it was great. Modern, clean and the staff are very friendly. It's in a great location in the museum quarter. Great breakfast too.

The hotel is very close to museums and the I Amsterdam sign. Only a minute walk and very easy to get to and from via buses and trams. The reception staff were helpful. Good hostel in a more quiet area. Room was clean

Came here with my two best mates.for my 30th in 2014. Good location (around the corner from van gogh museum) decent breakfast and nice rooms. It is more of a hostel but it is pretty decent. Private rooms are available with your own bathroom. Staff were cool too.

Despite having 'Hotel' in its name, it is definitely a hostel. That being said, for a hostel it is very hotel like. Nice clean rooms with a nice ensuite. The beds are your standard hostel bed. They have small secure(ish) safes in the rooms for valuables but definitely not enough space to keep your bags in, however they have bag... More

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
