We had a great stay at this hotel. Rooms were very clean, quite big and comfortable. We paid for breakfast which had a wide selection, although finding a place to sit was not always easy. overall, very good value for money. Location is just 1 min from the train station which was very convenient.

Was only here one night and apart from five minutes in the room the entire rest of the time I was sleeping. Very basic, no frills. Was clean, so big points there. Front desk was friendly in that Dutch kind of way! It was cheap and exactly what I needed. Short walk to Train station and the embedded in the...

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Myself and a friend payed 85Euro for a 3x3m room with no toilet or shower. That was communal. The room was on a slant. The mattress was thin and you could feel the springs. The owner was one of the worst blokes I've ever met. Offered no service and when you asked him for...

Water channels and the proximity of the ocean doing their job, light jacket was not always enough. Good hotel, 5 minutes from the central station, excellent staff, good breakfast. Great for a couple of nights.

Fantastic hotel; location, service and price. Recommend it to all; especially groups of friends. Beds were comfy and shower worked great. 24 hour reception is big plus for the late nights out. My stag of 13 stayed here for 2 nights and would all stay here again definitely. Thank you Hotel 83.

We had a nice, cozy stay in Hotel 83 and can recommend this accommodation by all means. The staff were friendly and the room tidy and clean. We had a wonderful breakfast the morning before we left for the airport. The area in which Hotel 83 is situated is interesting and we had an unforgettable time.

Good location and bad service with rooms rather underhand, and even less modern bathrooms quite disastrous. fairly poor breakfast that almost certainly will make you breakfast outside the hotel. General cleaning rather poor. Peersonal pretty easygoing. The only good thing is the location just 5 minutes from downtown and 10 of the central station. I would not repeat my stay...

For a quick layover we stayed at this hotel. Well worth the price. Bathroom and shower were detached from room but was perfectly fine. Dont choose the bedroom next to bathroom though. The room is small and basic but has a sink inside room to washup. The owner of hotel is very nice waited a long time to get room....

This hotel is in a very central location in the red light district and is close to lots of bars, coffee shops, the central station and local attractions, there are also plenty of restaurants and places to eat nearby. The hotel has free wifi, breakfast and the rooms are clean and fresh, as I mentioned before the hotel is situated...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
