Detailed Reviews
At the hotel Monet Garden we were made to feel very welcome by friendly reception staff. They answered any query and made bookings for us at restaurants promptly. A special mention must be made of the enthusiastic, young, fair haired gentlemen who was on reception on the morning & early afternoon of Monday 24th February . Despite the dreadful weather, he seemed determined to give a warm welcome to everyone and take care of their needs. The hotel had a good location and most tourist attractions were accessible on foot. The room we had, 418, was very clean with a comfortable bed. There wasn't a view but we knew that when we booked, we didn't choose a canal view. There was a large fridge in the room with a complimentary bottle of water on the first day and with a supermarket around the corner, it was easy to stock up on snacks for the sight seeing day. There was a coffee machine which was restocked daily. We didn't eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the quality of the food. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it. One small down point, we booked a return taxi to the airport after seeing it advertised in the hotel for 40 euro. When we arrived at the airport the taxi driver seemed to want to charge us 63 euro asking for a voucher from the hotel, until we insisted the hotel said 40 euro-so beware.

Dear Guest, Thank you very much for taking the time to write this (wonderful) review! For your information (and for potential guests reading this): very unfortunately, in Amsterdam, there are some illegal taxi-companies. We only work with TCA, the official Taxi Central Amsterdam and indeed the set-rate for a ride to the airport is 40 euro. Could you please mail me the receipt (if you still have it), so that we can pursue this matter on your behalf? My e-mail is gm@monetgardenhotelamsterdam.com. Thank you kindly in advance. Thank you again for your recommendation. We look forward to welcoming you back one day! Roos - Monet Garden Hotel

Just returned home from a 4 night stay in this amazing hotel. The decor is fab and so on trend I loved it. The staff couldn’t do any more to help you so friendly, we were offered complimentary drinks on arrival and departure! The hotel is just a short walk from the city and has a supermarket right around the corner that is open very late. The rooms were cleaned daily with fresh towels and tea and coffee replenished also which is complimentary. As the hotel is out of town there was no noise at all which was amazing. We were upgraded to the scenic view room which was right on the river, a lovely view! We didn’t dine in the hotel however the breakfast spread did look amazing each morning.
If you’re looking for a nice hotel and don’t mind walking/cycling this hotel is perfect for you.
I couldn’t recommend it enough!

We stayed at the Monet Garden for three nights over New Year. The reception staff were very welcoming and a small glitch with our room was resolved quickly - and they even left some wine and biscuits as an apology, which was very kind. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent - so good to have a proper walk in shower! It is located a short way from the centre, but is easily walkable or the Metro is nearby. Its also near the Maritime and Science museums which are worth a visit.I did wonder whether they are short staffed? Although the staff we saw were excellent, we gave up on ordering a nightcap at the bar one evening, and also coffee one morning as there was no one around to serve us. The reception staff could see us waiting but were busy with guests checking in and out - and there seemed to be no one that they could call on. We waited over 10 mins on each occasion but no one came. In addition, our room overlooked the courtyard and very early each morning a staff member wheeled the bins out. It was really noisy and woke us up each day!

Dearest Guest, Thank you for your good review about our hotel. It seems that staff has kept you waiting on two occasions and that one staff-member of a neighboring hotel disturbed by creating noise. This is of course not at all the way it's supposed to be: service needs to be quick and quiet, is our opinion. We apologize for these unfortunate events and we assure you that we have discussed this with all parties involved. We do hope that you visit us again, so that we can show you that we can do better! Please contact me directly if this is the case (gm@monetgardenhotelamsterdam.com). Yours faithfully, Roos - Monet Garden Hotel

After much research on hotels in Amsterdam I picked Monet Garden as it was close to Dam Square and the rooms and reviews all looked promising. It also had the best deals for New Year’s Eve and we were traveling with a party of 7. This hotel did not disappoint, from check in to check out we were impressed. When we arrived we were greeted as if we were friends and they offered us a drink on arrival. The rooms were beautiful and beds so comfortable, the kids said the rooms were the best so far on our European adventure. The rooms were a reasonable size and the bathrooms looked recently renovated. The rooms had a nespresso machine, robes, slippers and bottles of water. It was about a 15min walk to Dam Square and you could easily catch the tram or metro which was about a 3 minute walk from hotel. If you arrive by train the hotel is only 2 train stops from central station. We would definitely stay here again and I would recommend it..... Great stay.

Myself and my partner stayed here for my birthday and on the whole had a fantastic stay. On my birthday we were brought a bottle of Prosecco to the room along with a card which was a lovely touch. The location of this hotel is perfect for visiting most of Amsterdam- we walked to most places although there are also metro and tram stops located close by.
The hotel itself is generally very clean and the rooms beautifully decorated. Although many of the staff were very pleasant and helpful, offering any advise they could, some were very incompetent.
On checking out we were stung with a hefty city tax charge, which we thought we paid on check in. It turns out that we were in fact only charged half on check in- not sure why they would only charge us half?! Having stayed here for 4 nights it was plenty of time for the hotel to notice this mistake and inform us. Unfortunately they didn’t and the reception staff who we dealt with during check out were rather unhelpful. Not a great end to what otherwise would have been the perfect city break.

We made a mistake and were very honest about it upon departure (and we apologized at great length and repeatedly). We shall reimburse you for the small amount that we omitted to charge you upon check-in. We - again - offer you our sincerest apologies. Yours sincerely, Roos - Monet Garden Hotel

This review Is written by an hotel manager for 43 years.
First: a 4* should be elastic with the check in time. Arrived at 2.40pm, no rooms available (not it one) the c/in is at 3pm hmmm!
Second: checked in at 3.01pm, waited 10 min to go upstairs as both elevators were used by the chamber mades, with 4 bags in each elevator with used laundry (not a good smell), In my hotel it is forbidden to use guest elevator, no service elevator? Use at least one, avoiding the guest waiting and bad smelling (The guest pays, the hotel staff IS paid). This means also that at 2.40pm most of the room were ready (if at 3pm they are unloading used laundry at the lobby floor), but the rules is, check in 3pm, so the guest is warned. In a 4*? Guest satisfaction? No trace. Little suggestion to the GM. Sometime recall to the staff: "Guys remember the hotel guest pays your wage not the GM not the Company" so no guest (satisfied) returning, no revenue, no wages.
Third: I paid for a double room but stayed alone, second day the chamber made took the 2nd pax bathroom set away (arranged towels and shower gel for 1 pax only). Noticed at the reception, they provided (no good in a 4* ) Fourth: I chose the buffet breakfast and asked what was included: all items. Well, upon check out they asked for extra payment as per extra food eaten. Promptly noticed, they corrected. (Does not happen in a 4*, with 9.0 on booking, the reason I decided to book the Monet).
I have learned in many years, and taught to my staff to greet every guest and EVERY TIME when passing over the reception desk or meet in the corridor, it was not always done.
The last (but not least), get back to the room around 11pm, TV not working (audio), called reception, After a quickly check, said not possible to help me, a 4* hotel? Hmmmm. It would be appreciate to offer at least a room change. I am used to sleep shortly, so TV is important. Tried to disconnect electricity power and reset the TV, working properly. I should'nt do it by myself.
So I am very disappointed by this 4 star (sic!) and 9.0 booking rate. I won't suggest it in Amsterdam

Just returned from a fabulous short break staying at the Monet Garden and really couldn't fault it. The fabulously warm welcome, including a glass of prosecco, set the tone for the whole stay. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The hotel was spotlessly clean and stylishly decorated, with the cosy bar being the icing on the cake. Three of us stayed in a room that would accommodate four, and it was equipped with everything we needed including a hairdryer, iron fridge, robes and slippers. There was a great view overlooking the canal. Breakfast was superb with plenty of choice and items replenished promptly. We loved how, when breakfast was due to finish there was a 5 minute warning inviting you to stock up but also to stay and enjoy at leisure. Well located on a main road, but incredibly quiet. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the Monet Gardens for three nights. The hotel is located in a very safe neighborhood. The rooms were spacious with space to hang your clothes, had coffee makers (they provided the coffee pods) and a mini fridge which they gave you two bottles of water daily each day. The reception staff were very helpful at recommending a restaurant and setting up transportation when we had to leave for the airport. From the Hotel to Airport is approximately €40 which is the same as an Uber. We went with the taxi since we could pre-order it and we were leaving at 5:30 in the morning for a 9 AM flight. At that hour it took around 15-20 minutes to get to the airport.
You can also rent a bike from the hotel for 16 euros per day.
Here are the cons to the hotel. As I previously noted the hotel is in a very safe neighborhood however it’s kind of far from the action. It has a big grocery store around the corner which you can pick up fruit, a sandwiches for your day if you’re going to be out and about, plus a treat for later. This is helpful especially if you are going on a tour for the day or 1/2 day and need to eat on the road. You’re about seven minutes away from the metro. Which I learned is important to be near a metro if that’s how you want to get around town. Based on that we walked everywhere which was usually a minimum of 20 to 30 minute walk. I would suggest renting a bike if you’re not up to walking. Each day we were there we probably had a minimum of 25,000 steps.
Overall the hotel was very nice and the staff were very accommodating and spoke English.

1st time staying at the Monet Garden Hotel, and we were really impressed. It is in a good location, just a few minutes walk from
the centre. The hotel is secure, we like the fact you have to use your room key to get into the hotel building and to use the lift so that not just anyone can walk in off the street. The staff were so friendly and really helpful, they made us feel very welcome. Social distancing measures were in place and each time we walked through the hotel there were staff members cleaning and sanitising areas, there was plenty of hand sanitising stations aswell. Our room was absolutley spotless, it was a really good size for a city hotel and the bed was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and were impressed with the social distancing/safety measures the hotel had in place, we felt completely comfortable throughout our stay and we would 100% book this hotel again.

There is no designated place inside the hotel, but no problems with you popping outside and onto the wide pavements.
The price of the full English Breakfast buffet with wafles, mini-pancakes, sausages, baked tomatoes, baked beans, mushrooms, eggs, 2 kinds of fish, 4 kinds of cold cuts, hoemoes, fruit salad, fresh and grilled vegetables, various dairy products, French and Danish pastry, muffins, cakes, toast, rolls, fresh orange juice, coffee and tea of your choice, etc. etc. is € 21.50 per person per day and is available from 7 am till 11 am.
If you have a smaller appetite, we also offer a French Breakfast in our bar for only € 9.50 per person per day. This consists of a warm drink of your choise, fresh orange juice and 1 croissant with jam.
It was 50,00Eros as security deposit which was not charged to my account. The only other charges I received was the breakfast we ate each day.
Yes, there are plenty vegan options for breakfast, there are signs on the buffet regarding dietery wishes but you also ask the staff at hand.
