We had the canal view room which was very clean. While we enjoyed the view it's central location is another bonuses. Francois and his wife are very kind and always helpful to give recommendations. For dinner he recommended Prego and we were most Impressed with the food. We will stay at Posthoorn again for sure.

We stayed at The Posthoorn for 3 nights in August. There's only 3 rooms, and we had the Canal View room, which was very nice, if on the cosy side. All facilities were to hand, and the room was clean. One of the reasons we booked this B&B was that the owner, Francois, brings breakfast directly to your room and...

This hotel has only three rooms. We had the Canal View room and it was great. Nice large room with ample space. Our friends were in the Patio room and again it was lovely. The owner was very informative and recommended restaurants. The only thing is there is no dining room and Francois brings your breakfast to your room but...

Francois was a very generous host: With assistance, with recommendations, and breakfast with fresh bread every day was a great way to wake up. We'd always end up with a extra croissant or yogurt to put in our bag for later. The room was immaculate every day, very romantic, and we loved the location. We were in Amsterdam for King's...

Great location but Taxis did not wanted to bring us to the Hotel because was 15 min walk. Ok to do but we had our 75 yr old mom and her suitcases :( not easy walk. Once there our room was in the basement - clean and beds very comfortable but small and crampy for 3 adults and our luggage....

Stayed in Amsterdam for two nights following a river cruise. Though the weather in Amsterdam was not the best, the Posthoorn still allowed for us to say we had a wonderful time in Amsterdam. The location was ideal, the host was so gracious, and the breakfast was top shelf. Definitely will return.....hopefully to more sun.

What a treat. All the reviews are absolutely true. My husband and I stayed at The Posthoorn for 5 nights in early June. The room was perfect, the breakfast delicious and the location was ideal for exploring Amsterdam. We also enjoyed all the restaurants that our host suggested we visit. He was lovely and helpful and had only good advise...

I picked The Posthoorn because of the wonderful reviews on TripAdvisor and I was not disappointed. Everything that has been written is true! I was a bit nervous about reserving a room in a foreign country without leaving some sort of deposit or credit card to guarantee the room, but I didn't have to worry. The owner,Francois, was a most...

We stayed in the lovely bed and breakfast for two nights prior to our River cruise. It is within walking distance of the train station. There are three rooms total, each with their own bathroom. We were in the room with a outdoor terrace. The beds slept great and the room was very quiet. Location is close to everything- walking distant...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Housed within the fine walls of a listed historical 17th century canal house on one of Amsterdam's most picturesque canals in the heart of the city - the Prinsengracht - part of the UNESCO World Heritage, The Posthoorn Bed and Breakfast features three charming rooms which offer guests four-star luxury whilst staying in the Jordaan district. The Canal View Room, Patio Room and Hidden Church Room ooze opulent and stylish character within the pleasant atmosphere of this contemporary bed and breakfast flawlessly disguised in the old-fashioned exterior of this canal house. The history behind this interesting building dates back to 1578, during which time Catholics were refused to visit their churches so several hidden churches were built in private houses. Around 1650, one was built in the basement of what stands as The Posthoon today and if you wish the owner will be pleased to tell you the history of the house. The elegant decor of The Posthoorn is boasted throughout each and every room. The livingspaces feature a flat-screen cable TV, en-suite bathroom with under-floor heating, comfortable sofas, free wireless internet. In each room you will find a kitchenette including coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator complete with white wine, beer, orange juice, milk and mineral water. Full continental breakfast including freshly baked bread and croissants is served to guests in their room each morning. Staff aim to make guests' stay at the Posthoorn memorable. ... more   less
