We stayed at this B&B for two nights and it was a nice stay. The location is great for walking to the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum and it is an easy tram or bus ride into the more central part of town. The room we stayed in was spacious and had an ensuite bathroom. The bed was not...

What a wonderful place to stay! Fabulous and convenient location, luxury comforts including cozy robes, use of a little kitchen area - fridge, microwave, etc., and extensive delicious breakfasts! Very convenient to get to from the airport. Janneke is a wonderful host! She even makes the most delicious raspberry jam that I have ever tasted. We highly recommend it as...

A beautiful house within walking distance of the main museums of Amsterdam. Finding the B&B was very easy and its just on the doorstep of the Museumplein. As mentioned in another review; as you come straight out of the airport terminal, you can jump on the 197 bus to the Museumplein stop. There are screens on the buses that tell...

Agree with other reviews, warm welcome, very comfortable room, kitchen a great advantage when travelling with a toddler. A travel cot was added to our room and Lil miss was very happy. I found B&B Alexander on Trip Advisor and, based on the reviews, made a booking. I had had several email exchanges with the owner prior to arriving to arrange dates and to provide me with directions on how to find the place from the airport. It was extremely easy as all we had to do was catch a 197 bus...

Lovely family home and good breakfast to set one up for the day with many good resurants close by for evening meals. Bus and trams only a stroll away and advice on hand when needed. I'd love...

My teenage daughter and I were staying in this B&B. We had a lovely large room. Toilette and bathroom were on the landing, but private. It was a very good stay, of course different than in a hotel because you have no service (making up of rooms, cleaning bathroom etc). A bit on the expensive side though. There were only...

We had a lovely top floor room (room 2) overlooking a quiet street. The room had an en suite bathroom and access to a shared kitchen. The B&B is a lovely traditional terraced house with elegant interior. Janneke was a welcoming host and provided a great breakfast selection. The location is just behind the concert hall and minutes from the...

A little more expensive than we would have liked, however Janneke was very lovely and happy to help out. Breakfast in the big dining area each morning was great. Thank you to Kim also who was able to help us with our questions.

Sometimes it's worth to stay in Bed & Breakfast such as the Alexander instead of usual hotels because then you can have the unique opportunity to share your experience together with local people that are always ready to help you organizing your visits as well as ready to chat friendly with you. This B&B has been the best choice,in a...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
