While the room sizes and occasional noise are points of contention, the hotel's cleanliness and charming atmosphere, complete with candy jars and chandeliers, are consistently lauded.

Detailed Reviews
The Estherea Hotel fits perfectly with the unique, cool charm of Amsterdam.
Elegant but informal, all facilities are modern and the rooms are beautifully decorated. The hotel is very quiet and no noises or disruption heard from the room. The lounge area has an inviting atmosphere, with hot drinks and sweets available 24/7. The only small nag is the beautiful books locked in a glass cabinet so slightly frustrating look-but-dont-touch (although a less lazy visitor could always ask for the keys...)
Excellent breakfast every morning and the reception/concierge team is always friendly and helpful. Check the incentives they offer to book directly.
Last but not least, the location is fantastic to walk and explore: a (fun) canal tour is 20m away, rail station and red district all within easy reach, as well key museums — plus quite a few good restaurants and coffee shops in a 5 mins radius.
Just to stay local, around the corner there is a deli with, among other temptations, a considerable variety of delicious Dutch cheese types available for tasting and.... oh boy, wrong thing to discover on the very first day in town.
Atmosphere, location and service — very well done Estherea Hotel.

A warm welcome and quick check in perfect. A Small but very well appointed room lay out with high end fittings and fixtures. The TV has UK Channels which is always a bonus if your not out and about all hours. The bathroom & Toiletries are very nice, the shower was excellent and hot water is plentiful at all hours of the day. Free WiFi with excellent download speed.
The lobby is stunning and lounge area with free coffee tea & cakes and cookies every day all day & evening's a welcome treat when tied legs tell you to chill out for a few hours. The Lounge, Bar, Restaurant are all very opulent and beautifully designed the attention to detail very is excellent. The whole place was so relaxing and easy going the hotel is overlooking a beautiful Amsterdam canal.
The staff are very helpful and were polite at all times, a real treat English is widely spoken in Amsterdam. This hotel is in the middle of everything you need or want to see and visit. Easy walking distance the hotel gives you a map of sights and google maps helps you navigate all the bridges and canals. We particularly enjoyed the huge jars of complimentary sweets filled to the brim every day.
We cannot wait to return in the summer

I did a staycation at this hotel, and it far exceededy my expectations. The lobby has unlimited tea, coffee and infused waters, the restaurant is cozy, with excellent staff and tasty cocktails, and each room is unique and full of personality. The L'occitane bathroom products are some of the highest quality I've encountered in a hotel. The bed was comfortable, the room is spacious enough to entertain two friends with social distancing, and having an empty fridge came in very handy. The location on Singel means easy access from Central Station and throughout town. I left my bike parked and walked around more than I ever do on Amsterdam because of how convenient the hotel location is. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Esthrea. It is one of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed in and we have travelled a lot!! From the second we arrived we were welcomed by the staff in such a courteous manner. Check in was a dream, the young chap who took our bags to the room was so polite and explained our room to us. Samuel and the other gentleman in the (sorry we didn't get your name!) in the bar were the best bartenders and Samuel made a devine Bloody Mary! Our room was stunning everything was catered for and the bed was super comfortable. Everywhere around the hotel smells incredible with the owners signature perfume. It was our anniversary and we were given the gift of chocolates and a card from the hotel team. The hotel is in a prime position for exploring the city we even had a day at the Zandfoort beach. There are lots of lovely bars in the area and everything is in walking distance. We used the hotels taxi service back to the airport, it was quick and very clean. Thank you for looking after us so well, we will be back.

We spent four nights at the Hotel Estherea and overall had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is in a great location for exploring the city and there is plenty to do within minutes of the hotel. We booked a deluxe/luxury room and were allocated Room 301 overlooking Spuistraat on the backside of the hotel. The room was a decent size and nicely decorated, but we found the bathroom to be peculiar. The toilet was in a completely separate room from the sink, shower, and tub, which was inconvenient. The jacuzzi tub took up a large portion of the bathroom and left little space for a small shower stall. It was nice to have double sinks. There was very little closest space in the room. Bathrobes and cute pink turtle slippers were provided.
The hotel lobby was charming and it was a nice touch that coffee and pastries were available at most times. The staff was lovely when needed and for the majority left you at peace. My one complaint is facing Spuistraat was noisy in the mornings. Garbage collection occurs everyday, including weekends and would wake us up. Overall, it was a lovely stay and I would recommend this hotel to friends traveling to Amsterdam.

Hotel Estherea is one of a kind!
We stayed in a classic room which happened to have a canal view (I'm not sure any of the classic rooms have this). The room was beautiful decorated as is the entire hotel, however it is very small and snug. Not a problem for us but it may not be appealing to some. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room temperature was easily controlled.
The bathroom was very small but otherwise immaculately clean with L'occtaine toiletries. Fresh towels are provided every day if needed.
There is a small wardrobe in the room, we struggled to fit all of our clothes in and there was nowhere to really store our cases for our stay. There is a fridge which is topped up with bottled water daily.
The staff at Hotel Estherea were lovely and extras were easily arranged such as balloons and breakfast on the day of my birthday. However I was disappointed to discover that another guest had celebrated a special occasion and had been given a complimentary bottle of prosecco in the room to enjoy. But this is a small negative in the grand scheme of things.
Free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and infused water is available all day and snacks are provided in the afternoon.
Maria's bar is a lovely place to relax with a cocktail before going for a night out.
All in all a very nice stay, stunning decor, excellent location and friendly staff!

Great location, walk to everything. Cute neighborhood, picturesque setting on the Singel Canal. We got a canal room view and it was well worth it. We had a huge wall of windows, with curtains to block out the light when we wanted it. Bed was hard...our only disappointment. Fresh cookies in the lobby were always an adventure! Decent breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh squeezed OJ, fun mini pastries, etc. Overall a pretty good spread for breakfast, but pricey I thought. Tons of great places nearby for food/drink/shopping. Bonus points for the mini fridge in our room, so helpful! Great towel warmer in the bathroom dried off our clothes from the rain. The biggest bathroom we've ever had in Europe! Double sink, great shower. Always hot water, always nice and warm. Excellent hotel! 10/10 would stay here again.

We LOVED this hotel. It’s a small boutique hotel that we just happened to find online after not being able to find anything else. We took a chance, booking last minute and not knowing how it would be, and the second we walked through the doors, we knew we had found the perfect place. It’s exquisitely decorated, with crystal chandeliers throughout the lobby, entrance, bar and guest rooms. It has very intricately detailed ceilings, beautiful wallpaper throughout and gorgeous accent pieces. We were told it is a family-owned property, and it is clear in every detail that they take pride in their business and offer the very best quality and hospitality to their guests.
We were walked to our room by Daan, who was very friendly and offered solid suggestions on nearby restaurants. When we realized that we forgot to bring our adapters for the outlets, he went above and beyond to go find two for us to use. I can’t emphasize enough how much we appreciated this, as one of uses a CPAP machine and needed the adapter in order to be able to sleep! Leo and Thiery took care of us at the bar each night, offering us snacks and making local recommendations for us. The entire front desk staff was polite and helpful as well. Overall, the staff here was nothing short of amazing.
The resident kitties were a lovely surprise. They roam the lobby freely and love to be petted by the guests!
The rooms were wonderful as well. Because the rooms with queen beds were sold out, we chose two twin beds, which had been pushed together making it comparable to a king. The mattresses were very comfortable, and we slept well. The bathrooms have heated floors, and the shower had two shower heads - a rain shower head and a handheld, both with great water pressure! The L’Occitane shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap and lotions are another example of the high quality standards seen throughout the hotel.
On our last morning, my husband realized he had lost his hat and a small video camera that he travels with that contains many of our travels and memories from around the world as well as family events. We looked through all of our luggage for them. When we checked out, both items were waiting for us at the desk, along with our room number. I assume it was the gentleman working the front desk the night before that had seen us in the bar and picked it up for us, and we really appreciate his honesty in turning it in for us, as it contains videos that are special to us and not replaceable. (I don’t know your name, but you worked the overnight shift on March 11 - thank you!)
We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked another night for the night before flying out of Amsterdam. We had the same pleasant experience, with a complimentary room upgrade to a suite with a sofa and jacuzzi tub.
Overall: Excellent service. Wonderful accommodations. Superior hospitality. I wish I could take this hotel with me all over the world. We will definitely be back.

Last night I got home from a wonderful 5 night stay at this hotel. My Mum and I travelled together and we were amazed how elaborate and stunning our room was - it had the wow factor! The bathroom had double sinks, a large bath and my favourite luxury L'occitane toiletries, even the toilet rolls were wrapped in beautiful pink paper with flamingos and the hotel's name on. During our stay we did lots of sightseeing, The Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank house, Artis Royal zoo, Madame Tussauds, Diamond Museum etc. and loved the location of the hotel. Most of the attractions were within walking distance, we only needed to use a tram twice. The hotel has an excellent team, all very nice people but three stood out and deserve an individual mention, the breakfast guy Alex and the reception girls Amal and Yusra. On our final day we even got to speak with the hotel's current owner, a very nice lady who explained the history of the hotel. My favourite thing about the hotel however was the two beautiful grey house cats. The female puss especially enjoyed being petted and combed. I was upset to leave the hotel and Amsterdam too, I didn't want to go home.

Well located, seemingly mo more than 20 minute walk from anywhere you may want to go within old(er) Amsterdam.... the Jewish quarter, Dam Square, Anne Frank House, Museum Quarter, Heineken Factory, Red Light District, ++++, all very accessible on foot.
The hotel itself is very clean throughout and staff very welcoming and helpful, all with excellent English, thankfully.
Breakfast is very functional and bar food seems fine - we only tried the chips, which were brill in the late afternoon to help soak up a couple of beers, but saw plenty of other snacks presented to others.
The rooms are quirky, almost on top of each other but they are clean and well stocked - towels, tv, safe, fridge, l'occitane products etc.
Overall we were very happy with our Amsterdam base.

We had a queen/double size bed that they separated but basically the beds are apart 3 inches apart. I will say the bed was so comfortable and the linens were top quality so the fact that the beds were close didn't matter we both had a great night's sleep.
Yes. Ours was. Room 419.
We took the train to Central and walked from there. It was about ten to fifteen minutes and really straightforward. We had cases but just wheeled them.
I didn’t see one, and we walked everywhere around the hotel. Not sure how common they are in the Netherlands. I suggest you email the hotel.
There was a solid door between the bedroom and the bathroom in our suite. I can’t speak for the other rooms.
