Stayed here for 3 nights from 11-14th February for my partners birthday. Wasn't sure what to expect after reading reviews but we were so happy!!! The hotel is clean, rooms are spacious, bathroom is compact but didn't really make a difference. Breakfast was lovely, staff were friendly. Very close to the tram stop which takes about 10 mins to town...

Dear Erose, thank you for your message. I have seen you question concerning you daily expenses in another message on Tripadvisor and had not much more to add in my answer to the other messages you received from fellow travellers. I hope you will have a good trip to the hotel and hope to meet you there. Kind regards, Hans

Visited here February 2017 during business trip and stayed for 3 nights. Hotel is located walking distance from central station (about 2km). Hotel is located just opposite of Amsterdam Zoo and Aquarium is also within few hundred meters. There are couple good bars and restaurants near the hotel, so you don't get starved. February 2017 there was a construction yard...

It wasn't the best hotel I've stayed at, the room was surprisingly small, and getting a small double meant two singles which resulted in one of us sleeping in the gap through the night. Furthermore the bathroom was so tiny, and every time we used the shower the floor would get soaked as it had a curtain instead of a...

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this hotel was! Lovely and cosy inside, great location right near the tram stop that is about a 10 min ride into the centre, helpful staff, however the only downside was that when we arrived at the hotel, we paid the city tax to the lady on reception, and upon checking out, we...

Dear Sir, Madam, thank you for writing your review. I am happy to read that your stay with us was a pleasant one, apart from the city tax incident. I am sorry that this went wrong and that my colleague from the reception made an error in her administration. It is good to see that did not spoil your opinion...

The hotel and its facilities were fine. It's was clean and environmental friendly. We had a bit of noise from the main road, but it's to be expected. The location it's self was great, as we were right next to cafes, bars and a short walk from the centre and a park. Only criticism, is that in my sisters room...

Dear Sir, Madam, thank you for writing your review. I am glad to read that you have enjoyed your stay with us. I have to tell you that smoking is a real challenge for us. Allthough we have non smoking signs every where and warn our guests at check in, some do smoke in the room facing a penalty of...

The room was supposed to be a twin room but my colleague and I had to share the bed. We couldn't move in the room as the bed was almost taking the full width. She got stuck in the bathroom because we couldn't unlock the door. When calling the frontdesk to help we got the following anwser "I'm busy with...

Room was very small but wasn't fussed as we were out most of the time. Being right opposite the zoo was amazing. Very close to shops, points of interest and all types of transport. Shower was a little awkward though, had to put towels down to be sure it wouldn't flood the bathroom.

Booked the hotel via living social and Superbreaks, hotel is is convenient for the city centre being 10 minutes ride on the tram, with a tram stop within 200 yds of the hotel. Hotel was clean and the bedroom was of an average size and comfortable

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
