Very basic "Amsterdam XXX themed" hotel offering small, conveniently located rooms with a 5 minute walk from the city centre. You can upgrade to a more "spacious" room for 25€ but to be honest if your looking for a place to get your head down it does the job. Breakfast was pretty bland but let's face it, the Dutch prefer...

We found this hotel a decent and quiet one, not new or luxurious, but adequate for a short stay. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel to save time due to our short 3 day stay, it cost us about EUR 50. The 4-bedded room (2 x 2 single beds placed together) was reasonably big with just...

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in October 2013, it was fine for a short city break, not luxurious just adequate: Pros - good location - easily accessible by tram - friendly and helpful staff - comfortable beds - quiet location - yummy bakery round the corner! Cons - bathroom small (but you don't really need a large...

Was far from impressed with this hotel. I have stayed in a number of hotels over the last number of years and it was by far the grubbiest hotel I've stayed in. Toilet looked like it had never been cleaned, a crack on bathroom sink, rust on ceiling of shower. Whole bathroom needed to be redecorated. Bedroom, two single beds...

Nice, quiet location with a few bars and restaurants with easy accessibility to the busier city centre. Very friendly welcome upon check in however we were advised that we had a lower ground floor room (016) for the first night - but that we could move upstairs the next day (115). Both rooms were adequate and clean although the single...

Recently had a 4 night stay. It was a bargain for 30 per person per night and exactly what we needed. The staff were all lovely and spoke great English as most people did in Amsterdam. The rooms were pretty big compared to what previous reviews on trip advisor said. More than enough space. The bed were really comfortable and...

First the bad stuff, rooms are small, and the breakfast is not great. However, staff are helpful, the bed is comfy, its clean and there is free wifi. I would not want to stay here for a long time however for a one or two night stay it is fine. There is a tram right outside for getting in and...

We were welcomed by a really nice receptionist who was very well acquainted with the city. However, the other staff members did not know as much, which caused us to waste some time; nothing crucial though. Other than that, the place was well equipped, the beds were comfortable, breakfast pretty complete. It is well located; it is possible to walk...

Staying in Plantage & the East

Neighbourhood Profile
Plantage & the East
The eastern edge of central Amsterdam provides visitors with the chance to imagine the city that Rembrandt called home (and to tour his historic house) while shopping like the thriftiest of locals at Waterlooplein’s massive flea market, or even enjoying a craft beer beside the tallest wooden windmill in The Netherlands. This verdant, serene, and stately part of town is home to Artis Royal Zoo, one of Europe’s oldest (and still best kept) zoos, and Hortus Botanicus, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It's also an ideal setting for the Dutch outpost of St Petersburg’s Hermitage.
