Amazing hotel. The room was so clean. The breakfast was so delicious. The hotel location is perfect. You may go everywhere by walking. It is the place that reflects the history of Amsterdam very well and where Rembrandt painted her famous night watch.
Just got home from a 4 night stay...and absolutely loved the Doelen. We had a room with a superb canal view and would highly recommend this side of the hotel. The online photos do not do the hotel justice - it is stunning and well looked after. The main lobby with the chandeliers is beautiful. You are greeted by the concierge and every single member of staff was friendly, polite and fabulous. There is home made cloudy lemonade in reception and jars of sweets (which my husband chomped his way through). The flower displays in the building were stunning. I only noticed the books on our last day and wish I'd noticed them sooner. Our room was large, bright, modern and had everything we needed. Water was replenished each day and there are lovely toiletries. The shower is a modern rainfall or wall shower - your choice. The bathroom was large, bright and spotlessly clean. A coffee machine, teas etc. The only (tiny) thing I would change is not having a hairdryer in the bathroom.....but that's only because my husband gets in the way when I'm trying to dry my hair and I'd rather dry it in the bedroom. All staff were amazing - the lovely lady cleaning our room was fabulous, the reception staff, the concierge and the waiters and waitresses. The breakfast staff were particularly polite, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast - where to start?? Hot, cold, meats, fruits, yoghurt, omlette's. cakes.....you could spend all day just eating breakfast! Fresh juices and specialities from the chef - we were totally spoilt. The location is perfect. A short walk to Dam Square and to the train station. Bars, pubs, restaurants nearby. The atmosphere was wonderful. I would definitely stay here again, this will now be our hotel of choice. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay totally perfect! I can't wait to come back.…
I’m just getting back from holiday and I couldn’t wait to share my 5-Star experience at Doelen hotel in Amsterdam. There is good service, great service and excellent service. The professional team at the Doelen was out of this world! From the moment I arrived at the Doelen, they immediately recognized me and welcomed me back as a frequent customer and thanked me for returning. After a long day of traveling, it was a very welcome sentiment. The team upgraded my room to a fantastic canal room, that was way nicer than what I reserved. The room was as slightly warn to offset the dampness from rain outside and that put a smile on my face. (It was likely walking into my own home). To my surprise, there a personalized note and a very nice tart waiting for me in my room as a treat. Coming back from the evening, the turndown service was in full effect with candy and slippers by the bed. Talk about an amazing first day!!! Knowing so many people in Amsterdam, I was hardly in my room and I didnt notice that there was a message waiting for me on the room phone. After day 4, the Doelen sent a team to my room for a "wellness check" to ensure that I was ok. I totally appreciated that and it really shows how much the team cares their guests. With all the running around Amsterdam, I forgot to stop and buy my traditional gift to bring back to the States...Stroopwafels. The team at the Doelen must have been reading my mind as they gifted me a tin of Stroopwafels...but not just any Stroopwafels....van Wonderen Stroopwafels! Legendary, top shelf Stroopwafels! (Did I mentioned the team also left tulip bulbs for me to plant when I got home?!?) Even down to Lalique soap and seamless check-out, the team keep next leveling the professionalism. Wow. I could go on and on, but I could not go another day without recognizing the staff at the Doelen for a time I will not soon forget. Thank you for such an amazing memorable stay. With a great staff, also comes excellent management and I applaud the management staff for providing a workspace where excellence happens. Needless to say, the NH Collection Amsterdam Doelen is my permanent home away from home. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. See you in August, Doelen hotel!! …
We accidentally entered to have a cup of coffee and were pleasantly surprised by everything - the interior, the staff, the atmosphere. The whole place is so pleasant, quiet and looks marvelous. There is also a dining area with a great view to the canal but we only had cappuccinos elegantly served.
My stay at the CC Hotel was very pleasant. The staff are lovely and the breakfast is offered next door at The Pancake House. If you want a room with a view of the river, it’s best to book months in advance. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the train station and a 15 min ride from the Airport. Centrally located near many attractions, including The Royal Palace, Madame Tussauds, and a 7 minute tram ride to the museum District. Right across from Grand Central there are a vaI would also recommend. of cruises offered for day or evening tours. And there are many little cafes to stop and enjoy a cocktail or coffee with outside or inside service. I would absolutely book this hotel in the future.
My wife and I stayed a few days here during our stop in Amsterdam, and it was exactly what we wanted - a quaint hotel (but not too small), right in the heart of the city with nice rooms and excellent staff. Saskia, their front desk manager was very accommodating and gave us a warm welcome. We will definitely look to stay here again next time we’re in Amsterdam. Highly recommend.
Astonishing selection; beautifully presented and absolutely delectable. Everyone was very helpful and the view is quite unbelievable. Definitely a highlight. Our room is extremely comfortable and also has a view. We will be back.
We ended our holiday on a poor note with this hotel. The stay was nice and the rooms were decent however at checkout we were informed that over £600 was taken from our account as hold money. I understand it’s standard practice for hotels to take hold money however we were never told that this money was taken from our account until checkout- our bank also queried why the amount was so much especially considering the hotel was already pre paid. The lady at the checkout was quite rude in handling this situation and did not have evidence of a receipt to say that this money had been taken from our account. We had to go through our bank to get the money back. Very disappointing- won’t be returning.
We had an excellent stay during the month of November/December. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are so nice and friendly, and the location is close to everything. There is a lot to choose from in Amsterdam, but the NH Doelen is top notch and deserves your consideration. We stayed for three nights and were pampered by Ludo and his team of extraordinary hospitality professionals. Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room was overlooking the canal. If you are not a coffee drinker, ask them to prepare you a mint tea—delicious. The room was comfortable, great showers, and each night we were surprised and delighted with a lovely hotel gift. Truly an exceptional stay and wen we are back in Amsterdam, we will return to the Doelen.
This is not a hotel you come to for sleep. With two pubs right outside the hotel you will hear the drunk patrons as if they are in your room. Called the front desk to ask to be moved and was told it would be the same situation no matter the room. Unfortunate as I need to be up at 6am. Avoid this place if you value sleep or you can wait till 5am when the noise from the drunken idiot's subsides.
