The hotel is close to Central Station and Damrak, but far enough away to be quiet. It is around the corner from the main street. It is an easy walk to Jordan and tram stops are close. It is in the middle of many things, not the closest to the museums, but easy tram ride and some are walkable if... More

Right in the city center and attached to the business/event center that my husband's work event was at. Easy walking to anything and everything. Rent a bike and cruise through the streets like the locals. Tons of little bistros, cafes and shops. Duck into the local bread and cheese shops for fresh local treats. I felt very safe going out... This hotel is convenient to the Central Train Station and is convenient to all the Amsterdam sights. I am also a Gold member, so the free breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktail hour were really great! We received a room as soon as we arrived, early in the day. The staff were friendly and offered good suggestions for food and... More

Overall a good experience! I believe the place has just been re-vamped. The beds were most comfortable. Room/bathroom was very clean! We forgot to bring get our toothbrushes and room service brought up 2 with toothpaste! I didn't try the food but the bar and restaurant area looked appealing. I like the fact there are doormen at the doors and... More

The rate was 299 Euros but neither the internet access (in the room, free in the lobby) nor the breakfast was included in the price. Both the internet access and breakfast was expensive, in sum: it was not value for money

We stayed here to celebrate New Year's Eve in Amsterdam. The location was perfect, a few minutes walk from the train station and very near all the attractions we wanted to see. The staff were very helpful, nothing seemed too much trouble. They found us somewhere to eat on New Years Eve and secured us a table in minutes even... More

Typical of what is expected from an American hotel chain. Service was good. Fortunately, I'm a gold member and my weekend breakfast was included since the lounge does not serve then. Sure glad they gave breakfast since because it was $30 eur!!!!!!! Short walk to train station. Tip! Outside noise was loud. Ask for an inside facing room.

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the beginning and again at the end of our trip. The staff was amazing, upon our early morning arrival we were checked into our upper floor very quiet king room and our 21 mth old grand daughter was presented with a small toy. The executive lounge was comfortable and the food more... More

Nice centrally located hotel but the price is high for what is offered - not good value I think. What is most annoying is that the internet is NOT free in the room but only in the lobby. HOW RIDICULOUS can it get. It defies logic that a hotel like this continues with this rubbish. Based on this alone, I... More

The Marriott Renaissance Amsterdam, is in a great location, great service, very nice concierge service on weekdays (food drinks etc). They sell passes for the metro system which is quite handi. They have good maps of the city which show the light rail lines on them. (the system is easy to use). We have stayed here twice and would highly... More

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
